High Performance Protection Bollom Intulac™ Ultra varnish is a high performance fire protection coating system for wood for interior use. The system comprises a clear, transparent, water-based intumescent base coat (Intulac Ultra Base Coat) - designed to form a protective carbon char in the event of fire, delaying the inflammation of the wood - and a clear, transparent, solvent-based protective top coat (Intulac Ultra Protective Topcoat available in matt and satin finishes). Intulac™ Ultra can be applied to deliver both Class 0 and Class 1 fire performance.

The Basics What you really need to know about Intulac Ultra Protective Topcoat...
- Each 2.5lt tin will cover 36m2
- Protects internal timber to British Standard Class 0 & Class 1 when used in conjunction with Intulac Ultra Base Coat - What is Class 0 and 1?
- Leaves a clear varnish finish which can be matt or satin.
- Only 1 coat needs to be applied over Intulac Ultra Base Coat to finish both Class 1 & Class 0 systems.

Application Areas Reduction of ignitability of soft and hard wood and other wood derivatives, i.e. plywood, chipboard, fibre insulation board, hard board, also on veneering ≥ 12 mm thickness. Insulates against heat, checks fire, prevents propagation of fire and diminishes flue-gas density and flue-gas temperature.
Designed for interior use on timber panelling, tongue and groove timber cladding, timber furniture, doors, skirting boards and other areas. Not suitable for floors.
System Components & Pack Sizes Bollom Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent Base Coat 4.8ltrs, clear finish. Bollom Intulac™ Ultra Protective Top Coat 2.5ltrs, Matt or Satin sheens, clear finish.
Preparation Surface must be dry, free from dust, oil, wax, grease, release agents. Existing coatings must be completely removed. Greasy resinous surfaces: wash down with methylated spirits then wash with clean water.
After drying sand lightly. Wood substrates with wetting difficulties should be roughened thoroughly with abrasive paper. For porous or bare timber we recommend the application of one coat of ZinsserTM Sealcoat.
If a colour is required, substrate may be treated with BlackfriarTM Wood Dye prior to varnishing.
Application Brush, Roller, Spray
Apply one or two coats of Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent Base Coat to a coverage of 6.6m2/ltr. per coat for Class 1 or Class 0 respectively.

• Intulac™ Ultra Protective Top Coat - Apply 1 coat @ 14.5m2/ltr
Class 0 (3 coat system) • Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent Base Coat - Apply 2 coats @ 6.6m2/ltr each coat
• Intulac™ Ultra Protective Top Coat - Apply 1 coat @ 14.5m2/ltr
Simplified A 4.8ltr tin of Intulac™ Ultra Intumescent base coat will cover 32m2 for Class 1 and 16m2 for Class 0. A 2.5ltr tin of Intulac™ Ultra protective top coat will cover 36m2.
