Rust-Oleum Mathys 5170 Scrape Coat
Solvent free, self levelling, two component epoxy to flatten out rough concrete floors.
Rust-Oleum Scrape-Coat 5170 is designed to flatten out rough concrete floors. Rust-Oleum Scraper-Coat 5170 is applied with a filling knife, trowel, a rake or a special spreader with triangular teeth.
Rust-Oleum Scrape-Coat 5170 provides excellent smoothness and a good key for adhesion on concrete floors and cement screed floors prior to the application of Rust-Oleum Self Levelling Mortar Compound System 5400; Solvent-free, High-Build Epoxy System 5500, High-Performance Epoxy System 9100 or Rust-O-Thane Polyurethane System Topcoat 9600. Very Porous substrates should be primed with Rust-Oleum 5401 impregnation primer.
Scrape-Coat 5170 can be reinforced when kiln dried quartz sand is dusted at saturation on the wet coat, providing a rough and non-skid surface. When mixed with kiln dried quartz sand, the product can be used as a repair mortar.
• Provides a smooth and seamless surface • Self-levelling • High mechanical strength • Low odour • From 0.5 – 3 mm thickness • Creates adhesive layer on concrete and cement screed floors • Can be used in combination with coloured quartz
When mixed with kiln dried quartz sand the it can be used as a repair mortar.
Coverage: 2m2 per kg Touch Dry: 3 hours
Application: DO NOT ADD THINNER! Pour the material onto the properly cleaned floor and spread it out evenly with a rake or a spreader with triangular teeth, for small areas a trowel or a filling knife may be used. Treat the surface directly after application with a de-aeration roller to release entrapped air and to promote the self-levelling effect.
If a reinforced system against abrasion and shock or a non-skid finish is required, sprinkle kiln dried quartz aggregate progressively and regularly until saturation on the scrape-coat 5170, 10 to 20 minutes after its application.
For decorative flooring it is possible to use single or multicoloured quartz aggregate. Usual size of quartz is 0.1 - 0.4mm, but also available in 0.4 - 0.8mm or 0.7 - 1.25mm, providing more rough and anti-slip aspect.
• Quartz aggregates must be sprinkled until saturation • Necessary amount of quartz is generally 1.5 to 2 times the Scrape-Coat 5170 (kg/m2) • After drying, remove loose aggregate and correct evenness by scraping • Apply one or two coats of a sealing topcoat such as Rust-Oleum 5500, 9100 or 9600 • For the production of a repair mortar, incorporate kiln dried quartz sand (particle size 0.1 - 0.4mm) into the freshly prepared Scrape-Coat mixture and mix until material is homogeneous and the required consistency is reached; apply mortar with a trowel.
