Sadolin Superdec
Sadolin Superdec is a water borne, highly durable opaque finish for cladding and exterior joinery. Sadolin Superdec erodes naturally by weathering, thus ensuring the coating remains flexible and resists cracking, peeling and flaking. Sadolin Superdec can be applied to new and previously painted or stained surfaces, and is ideal for use where a complete change of colour is required or where the existing surfaces has become weathered and uneven in appearance. To minimise resin and extractive discolouration of the coating (particularly with white and pale shades of Superdec) a blocking primer should be used. Sadolin Superdec is not suitable for use on floors or decking.
• On bare timber, Superdec is self-priming and therefore is usually a simple two-coat application which offers reduced cost benefits over 'traditional' 3 to 4 coat paint systems. • Superdec combines alkyd and acrylic resins. An alkyd resin offers the benefit of greater absorption while acrylics provide flexibility. This combination has been proven to offer increased life span and reduced maintenance when compared to 'traditional' paint systems. • Its advanced water-borne formulation promotes easy brushing and reduced brush marks. • Minimal preparation is required at redecoration. Simply clean down, allow to dry and apply one maintenance coat.
Over the past ten years opaque wood stains have emerged as the main growth area within woodcare.
Opaque woodstains offer an attractive alternative to traditional translucent wood finishes in both colour and finish while at the same time providing a solution to the main problems associated with traditional paints.
Traditional paints are not always flexible enough to cope with timber movement, which can cause the coating to crack, peel or flake. Superdec offers a paint-like, solid colour finish but has the flexibility of a woodstain to allow for the natural movement of timber.
Solid colours are ideal for use on poor quality timber surfaces when a translucent stain would show the blemishes. The solid colour hides the imperfections while still allowing the natural texture to be seen.
