A Guide to Industrial Paint Accessories How to Pick the Right Tool for the Job

Testing condensation

When you start working on a new project, you’ll want to know if the surface is prone to condensation. Condensation causes damp and mould which can cause a whole range of problems in your building! To test a surface before you paint it you’ll need the right meter to measure condensation. The Dewpoint Meter (H3001) enables testing for the estimation of the probability of condensation on a surface to be painted and establishing whether conditions at the job site are suitable for painting or not. This kind of meter can measure relative humidity, surface temperature and proximity to dew point. The relative humidity of the air and the surface temperature are the basis for the estimation of the probability of condensation. For example when painting steel the surface temperature generally should be at least 3°C above the dew point. You can then use this information to choose appropriate paints or coatings.

Painting Floors

Painting flooring doesn’t have to be a huge task. You can use our Floor Application Kit to make sure you have the right tools for the job. If you want your paint or coating to look professional this is what you need! The better you apply your paint or coating, the longer it will last.

Our floor application kit includes some really useful items. The 12″ roller sleeves are great for withstanding floor paints which have solvents in them. With the 15L roller scuttle, you’ll find that you don’t need to replenish your paint as often, making life easier. If you need to get to any awkward spaces, the contractor brushes will allow you to cut into edges. Lastly, the majority of paints and coatings need a good mix for maximum results. The mixing paddle will make that happen!

Respirators

A good respirator is very important. Many paints and coatings contain harsh chemicals which can be seriously damaging to your health. If it says to wear a mask whilst using a paint, don’t ignore it. Breathing toxins from paint is not good for anyone! It’s just as important though to make sure you’re using the right type of mask for the product you’re using, something like the 3M Half Mask Respirator will help keep you protected and is a good all-round mask but may not be suitable for everything you’re using so be sure to check. This respirator is lightweight, easy to fasten and designed so that you still have good perpetual vision.

Hopefully this will help get you started on your next project. If you’re not sure which tools you’ll need for your next job feel free to get in touch.
