Their ComfortFloor systems have been designed to be fire-resistant, with good impact sound insulation and noise absorbance. They are also easy to clean and maintain with great wear and impact resistance. Sika ComfortFloor has a liquid application which means that it is possible to achieve a seamless floor finish with a unique design. Described as ‘liquid applied vinyl’ the possibilities are endless! Especially when you take into account that Sika has 70 standard ComfortFloor colours available, with the ability to match RAL, BS, NCS and Pantone colours. This design flexibility will ensure that corporate colours can be incorporated into the floor, or the floor can be colour matched to walls and furniture.

The specific Sikafloor PS23, PS24, PS25, PS26 and PS27 systems address defined environmental needs, whether it’s reducing impact noise, resistance to moisture and chemicals or long-lasting durability for heavy traffic areas and furniture stress. Read more about these systems below.

Sika’s ComfortFloor system is also refered to as ‘PS23’ on the Sika website. It is a great solution for flooring in residential, public or commercial buildings. They recommend using the Comfortable PS23 system for residential stairs and hallways, shopping areas, offices and meeting rooms, cafeterias, classrooms and many more. The ComfortFloor system is comfortable to walk or stand on, contributes to a healthy indoor environment as no dust can bind nor will any bacteria or fungus be able to grow.

The system build-up contains three layers and the total thickness of the floor will range from 2-3 mm.

Use Sikafloor 161 primer. It is a two-part, low viscosity epoxy resin and levelling mortar for Sikafloor systems. It has excellent bond strength with good penetration. Follow up the primer by a wear layer consisting off Sikafloor 330. Sikafloor 330 is a two-part, solvent-free self-smoothing PUR resin. As it is permanently elastic, it is great for crack bridging. To finish the SikaFloor Comfort PS23 system, apply the mandatory seal coat of Sikafloor 305 W. For an anti-slip finish, Sika Anti Slip Agent can be added to the final coat. Sikafloor 305 W will provide a matt seal coat with excellent UV resistance. It is also non-yellowing, very easy to clean with a low odour.

System Build-Up Overview:

sika-ps25

Sika’s ComfortFloor Pro system is also referred to as ComfortFloor ‘PS25’ on the Sika website. The features are similar to the ComfortFloor PS23 system above, but offers additional impact resistance and high impact noise reduction. Sika recommend using this flooring system in residential, public and commercial buildings where high impact noise reduction is a special requirement. The ComfortFloor Pro system has previously been used in libraries, art galleries, office buildings, operating theatres and high schools. Just like the ComfortFloor system, it contributes to a healthy indoor environment as dust cannot bind and fungus or bacteria won’t be able to grow.

The system build-up contains five layers and the total thickness of the finished floor will range from 6-7mm.

To start the system build-up, begin with Sikafloor Comfort Adhesive. It is used to adhere the next layer to concrete and cementitious screeds. There is no shrinking after curing and it is non-flammable. The next layer will be Sikafloor Comfort Regupol 6015H. It is a prefabricated rubber shockpad that will give the ComfortFloor Pro system its additional impact resistance and high impact noise reduction. As a pore sealer, use Sikafloor Comfort Porefiller. It is a two-part total solids PUR used for sealing and levelling the prefabricated Regupol sheets. After this different priming system, the ComfortFloor Pro build-up system follows the same final layers as the ComforFloor system. Follow up this three-part system with a wear layer of Sikafloor 330 and finish with a seal coat of Sikafloor 305 W.

System Build-Up Summary:

Adhesive: Sikafloor Comfort Adhesive

Rubber mat: Sikafloor Comfort Regupol 6015H

Pore filler: Sikafloor Comfort Porefiller

Sika ComfortFloor Decorative System – PS24

Smooth Low VOC Decorative Elastic Screed

sika-ps24

Sika’s ComfortFloor Decorative system has been designed for residential, public and commercial buildings where aesthetics and interior design are at the forefront. It is referred to as ComfortFloor ‘PS24’ on the Sika website.

Just like the other ComfortFloor systems, the ComfortFloor Decorative system offers a seamless floor whilst contributing to a healthy indoor environment. With this Decorative system, there is the additional option of adding colourful flakes into the coats for a different finish. The ComfortFloor Decorative system has previously been used in museums, health care centres and for shopping facilities and is deemed particularly suited for schools, hospitals, showrooms, lobbies and open-plan offices.

The system build-up contains three different layers and the total thickness of the floor will be 2-3mm.

To start, use Sikafloor 161 as a primer for the next coat. As mentioned earlier, it is an epoxy resin and self-levelling mortar. As such, it will provide a great base for the next coats. The primer is then followed by a base coat layer of Sikafloor 3000. This is a two-part elastic, aliphatic, solvent free, very low VOC emission certified, self-smoothing polyurethane resin. It has a very high yellowing resistance and remains permanently elastic. It is possible to add Sika PVA Colorflakes to give the floor a different decorative finish. Use Sikafloor 304 W as a seal coat. This is a two-part, waterbased polyurethane matt seal coat. It is easy to clean, non-yellowing with good UV resistance.

System Build-Up Summary:

Primer: Sikafloor 161

Base coat: Sikafloor 3000

Broadcast: Coloured flakes (optional)

Sealer: Sikafloor 304 W

Total system thickness: ca. 2–3 mm

sika-ps26

Sika’s ComfortFloor Decorative Pro system is also referred to as ‘PS26’. It has been designed for a wide range of buildings, from residential buildings to medical facilities. It allows for additional creativity in the finishes whilst offering improved impact noise reduction and insulation, combining comfort, creativity and functionality successfully.

The system build-up contains five different layers and the total thickness of the floor will be around 6-7mm.

Just as with the other Pro ComfortFloor system, the ComfortFloor Decorative Pro system consists of Sikafloor Comfort Adhesive followed by a prefabricated rubber shockpad. Use Sikafloor Comfort Regupol 4580 for this particular floor system. The shockpad will provide additional shock and sound absorption for medium impact resistance. Follow the Regupol 4580 layer with Sikafloor Comfort Porefiller. The Porefiller will function as a sealer and will level the shockpads for the following layers and coatings.

After the Porefiller, use Sikafloor 300N or Sikafloor 3000 as a wear coat. Again, there is an option to add PVA Colorflakes for a different decorative finish. As a seal coat, use Sikafloor 304 W. As you can see, the wear coat and seal coat is the same as it is for the ComfortFloor Decorative system.

System Build-Up Summary:

Adhesive: Sikafloor Comfort Adhesive

Rubber mat: Sikafloor Decorative Regupol 4580

It has been specifically designed for high traffic environments, including educational or medical facilities. It can also be used for light industrial areas. It is highly versatile and has previously been used in universities and retail buildings for example.

The system build-up contains three layers and the total thickness of the floor will be around 2-4mm.

As a priming coat, use Sikafloor 161. The epoxy resin will both prime the substrates as provide a self-levelling coating for subsequent layers. Follow up with a wear coat of Sikafloor 327. This is a two-part tough elastic polyurethane self-smoothing resin coating. It is easy to apply and easy to maintain. Seal this coat with Sikafloor 305 W. As mentioned above, Sikafloor 305 W is a two-part waterbased PUR coloured matt seal coat. It offers good UV resistance, is non-yellowing and easy to clean.
