Door Upgrade Products

Rawlins Paints, along with standard fire-retardant paint products, has various solutions for upgrading the fire resistance of normal timber doors. We work closely with manufacturers to ensure that the products we offer achieve the best possible fire protection.

Intumescent paint is just one element of protection and DOES NOT create a ‘fire door’. Intumescent materials and hardware MUST be used to ensure your doors meet the required standards of your authority.

For clarification on minimum requirements before buying one of our fire proof products, please review the information provided in the 'DATASHEETS' tab on the product in question. A written specification should be obtained from our Technical Department for your project prior to use to ensure this system will be suitable.

Fire Door Seals and Strips

We also sell intumescent strips (also known as smoke seals), which work as smoke and fire seals around doors that you are upgrading. Graphite based, they’re self-adhesive and easy to apply. Astroflame Intumescent Acoustic Acrylic Mastic is also an easy to apply intumescent sealer. It gives a five-hour barrier to fire and has excellent sound protection, perfect for sealing small gaps around upgraded and fire resistant doors.

Certificates

All of the intumescent paints we offer have been tested to varying British/European standards by recognised independent third parties depending on their required use and performance. In addition to these industry standard tests, some products also offer additional paperwork after use by way of a ‘certificate’ that can be obtained in different ways - manufacturer dependent. Some require a form to be completed and returned by email, others have online application forms, others can be simply called to provide project details verbally. Not ALL products offer this additional supplement and if this type of certificate is important to your project you should contact our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or [email protected] to advise them of this so they can ensure they recommend a suitable product accordingly. Certain larger projects may also require the involvement of an independent inspector, again you should contact our Technical Department to discuss this if required.
