    Material Characteristics

Quality Assurance: Manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 accredited Quality Management System, the structural integrity of the specified material is high grade. A suggested life span of 25 years is expected, but not guaranteed, and is based on a number of variables: environmental, installation process, maintenance, loading and traffic conditions.

Slip Resistance: The integral angular quartz gritted surface has been tested and certified in accordance with BS 7976-2. It provides an exceptional level of slip resistance over its lifespan. Lifespan depends on frequency of use.

Chemical Resistance: Fibreglass products are resistant to a wide range of chemicals across a broad temperature spectrum. GRP is made using a number of different resins to achieve specific chemical resistant properties. Please refer to chemical resistance charts at the end of data sheet.

Fire Resistance: All products contain a Fire Resistant Additive resulting in a Euro Class 1 fire rating in accordance with ISO 9239-1 and ISO 11925-2. This performance is equivalent to ASTM E84 class 1 and BS 476 part 7 class 2 flame spread and in effect gives a 25 minute burn time on the material.

    questions Matt on 2022-11-23 11:15:44
    Question:

Do the Anti-Slip Decking Strips work if there's a frost?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

The effectiveness of the anti-slip will decrease when there is moisture or ice present.

But it will still provide a level of anti-slip unless a layer of ice forms deeper than the aggregate on the decking strips.

questions Chris Manuel on 2022-06-22 14:46:07
    Question:

    Can you paint these strip?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Yes these can be painted, assuming they are clean ,dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR Smooth.

This is available in clear, black or white.

Please note that applying a paint to these anti-slip decking strips will reduce the level of anti-slip.

    Question:

    How many in a box.

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

    These are priced individually.

questions Ed Beadle on 2020-11-11 13:43:29
    Question:

Are your strips flat underneath, or do they have "tongues" that fit into the grooves on the decking ?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

The anti-slip decking strips are flat underneath.

    questions Marion on 2019-11-02 21:02:22
    Question:

Can you simply screw down the non slip decking strips or do you have to also glue them down?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

It is an optional suggestion but we suggest using an adhesive in conjunction with mechanical fixings such as screws to provide a secondary defence against them coming loose should anything happen to the fixings. Also to prevent water from entering underneath the strips and sitting trapped between the strip and timber which may accelerate breakdown of the timber/organic growth. Finally it can also prevent a 'clacking' sound being created when walking over the strips which can occur when not fixed at correct intervals with screws only.

    Question:

What if I want to clean the decking once the strips are down and seal it ?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

We would suggest cleaning and sealing the decking prior to application of Anti-Slip Decking Strips but you can still carry out this type of work once the strips are in situ if you wish or they can be easily removed and re-instated while the work is done if you prefer.

    questions Rachel on 2019-02-12 14:58:42
    Question:

Are these suitable on wooden garden steps? Are they a trip hazard due to increased friction for children?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Yes these can be used on wooden garden steps, we would recommend putting them along the leading edge – a bit like a stair nosing. As they are anti-slip they will have a higher friction value than just the wood / decking but being convex they are not a trip hazard.

questions Christine McColl on 2016-09-23 19:58:32
    Question:

Is glue supplied with the non strip strips? If not - how much is the glue and what type do l need to buy?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Adhesive is not supplied with our 1105 Anti-Slip Convex Decking Strips (50mm). We recommend 1106 Clear Adhesive which will bond 12 linear metres of decking strips per 310ml tube. Anti-Slip Convex Decking Strips must also be fixed in place using suitable screws which can be found HERE.

    questions Margaret  on 2015-12-24 06:17:52
    Question:

How far apart do your 1105 Anti-Slip Convex Decking Strips (50mm) need to be fixed?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

There is no set measurement as decking areas can be different project to project. As a guide we suggest you make sure you place the decking strips so people can't tread between them, a rough guide would be 75-100mm apart centre to centre.
