Rust-Oleum Mathys 108 Surfa Etch Solution
Rust-Oleum Mathys 108 Surfa Etch Solution is an easy to use, non-flammable and virtually odour free etching solution for the preparation of smooth concrete surfaces, masonry, galvanized steel and aluminum before applying a paint coating system.
Rust-Oleum Mathys 108 Surfa Etch Solution should be used for etching smooth concrete surfaces, masonry, galvanised steel and aluminium before applying a Rust-Oleum paint coating system. Rust-Oleum Mathys 108 Surfa Etch Solution neutralizes alkaline contamination and removes zinc and aluminium corrosion products ("white rust"). Apply with a stiff nylon brush or a broom.
Features & Benefits
- Improves the adhesion of coating systems
- Neutralizes alkaline salts
- Also ideal to remove ´white rust´ from metal
- Easy to use
- No objectionable odour or fumes
To ensure homogeneity shake well before use. Scrape or sweep away grease, oil, dirt and all other surface contamination as much as possible. Degrease by means of alkaline cleaning, high pressure (steam) cleaning or, for small patches, by volatile solvent cleaning. Apply Surfa-Etch 108 Etching Solution liberally and scrub it into the surface with a nylon brush or broom. Allow to stand for 10-15 minutes, depending on temperature, and clean thoroughly by flushing with plenty of fresh water.
Do not allow the Surfa-Etch 108 Etching Solution to dry before rinsing! Concrete and masonry may need a second treatment. After cleaning, remove any remaining water and allow to dry completely, as moisture left on the surface or entrapped into pores may cause failure of the coating system. Large surface areas or poor drying conditions may require longer drying times before a coating system can be applied.
