Jotun Visir Clear Primer is a special water repellant primer that contains powerful fungicides against wood rotting fungi, and film fungicides to protect against surface moulds. Jotun Visir Clear Primer binds loose wood fibres and provides a good surface for further treatment, and contains added agents to protect woodwork against dangerous UV light.
Jotun Visir Clear Primer gives longer durability to the coating system and should be used before applying translucent stains on all new and weatherworn external woodwork, and also on pressure impregnated wood. Jotun Visir Clear Primer can also be used under opaque stains and coatings systems, during the colder times of the year (below +5°C).

Hi. I am going to use your products on a to be constructed spruce log garage. How many coats will be required on untreated timber. And what final finish would you recommend. Kindest regards, Peter. |
Answer:
1 brush coat of Jotun Visir Clear Primer is recommended and must be thoroughly brushed out. Any end grains or cut surfaces would need 3-4 coats applired wet on wet. The primer must be overcoated as soon as possible and within 1 month, Jotun Demidekk topcoats can be used as a finish.
![]() | Question: Hi.
I'm planning to use this Jotun Visir clear primer followed by Jotun Demidekk Ultimate Windows and Doors paint to paint a pine outdoor playhouse. Would I need to pre-treat knots in the wood or will these 2 products be enough?
Regards,
Matt |
Answer: You must treat the knots first with a proprietary knotting solution and then apply Jotun Visir Clear Primer followed by Jotun Demidekk Ultimate Windows and Doors.
