Rust-Oleum 6570 Basecoat Rapid SL is a rapid curing, self-levelling screed to level out uneven floors. It creates a seamless smooth base and can be walked on after 2-4 hours. It’s made of strong, durable material that is not hazardous (does not contain Portland cement) and does not shrink or crack. Ideal for warehouses, production zones, aircraft hangers and more.

Rust-Oleum 6570 Basecoat Rapid SL is designed to flatten out rough concrete floors. The product can be applied with a trowel, a rake or a special spreader with triangular teeth. The recommended layer thickness is 8mm, but it is possible to apply the product at a thickness of 5-30mm. Rust-Oleum 6570 Basecoat Rapid SL be used with Rust-Oleum topcoats to provide better aesthetics and improved wear and chemical resistance.

Surface Preparation

Concrete or screed substrate should be a minimum of 25N/mm², free from laitance, dust and other contamination. The substrate should be dry to 75% RH (BS8204) and free from rising damp and ground water pressure. Use Rust-Oleum 5220 Epoxyshield Sealer on porous mineral substrates.

Directions for Use

Add 3.6–3.8 litres of water per 20kg bag and mix mechanically.

Application

Pour the material onto the properly cleaned floor and spread it out evenly with a rake or a trowel. Treat the surface directly after application with the de-aeration roller to release entrapped air and to promote the self-levelling effect. The recommended layer thickness is 8mm, but it is possible to apply the product at a thickness of 5-30mm. Clean tools and spills with (hot) water before the product has started to cure.

Application Conditions

Temperature of air, substrate and coating material between 5 and 25°C. Ensure the screed is not subject to draughts and strong sunlight during the first 24 hours of curing as this may lead to cracking and crazing.
