Stewart on 2019-02-12 16:49:48 | Question: I am fitting an electric heater mat to a newly laid screed with 6 mm insulation board between them and 150 mm insulation below the base screed. Before fitting the laminate I intend to apply 3 mm of Sika 20 compound. Can the compound go straight onto the heater mat. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: SikaLevel 20 Levelling Compound would not be suitable for this application but SCHÖNOX APF would be. You must have a minimum of 6-8mm above the pipe or electric wire. Prime the concrete with SCHÖNOX VD mixed 1:3 with water before laying the wires or screed.
Peter on 2019-01-03 20:23:37 | Question: I am gluing a solid wood floor on a cement screed sub-base. To prepare the floor I have been advised to seal the base with Sika Primer MB. To level the base I am considering using Sika Level 20 levelling compound. Is this the right choice? And importantly, is it compatible with:- (a) the Sika Primer MB? (b) SIka Bond MS Wood Floor Adhesive, to glue a solid wood floor in place. Or is there a better system altogether? Look forward to your response. Peter |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: We can confirm that this combination of products is suitable to work together. When applying the self levelling compound onto Sika Primer MB, the instructions to broadcast the primer with sand must be adhered to in order to provide a mechanical key. Please refer to product technical data sheets which can be downloaded from the respective product pages.
