Surface Preparation

The substrate should be clean, dry and free from rising ground water. Pegasol Quartz can be applied directly on tiles, ceramics (even glazed), non-porous natural stones, tarmacadam. Porous concrete must be impregnated first with Primer 44 HS or with Vernac diluted with 10% volume Thinner 22. Curing compounds in case of poly concrete have to be removed by sand or grit blasting. On new or non-porous concrete, remove the cement grout by sand or grit blasting or attack with diluted hydrochloric acid (3 l hydrochloric acid in 10 l water, let it act for 10 minutes and rinse abundantly with clear water), let it dry afew days before application.

Remarks

  • Pegasol Quartz will withstand foot traffic after 6 hours and wheeled traffic after 3 days.
  • Because of the development of acid products in Pegasol (Quartz) under influence of UVrays, it should not be finished with polyurethane-varnishes (e.g. Pegagraff Hydro) incase of external works.
  • Add the hardener to the base gradually with good mechanical stirring.
  • When Pegasol Quartz has to be recoated, please contact Rawlins Techincal Support.
  • For applications on balconies and terraces, please contact Rawlins Technical Support.

Question:

Would this paint on top of a rubber flooring that is tired but is in a long corridor outside changing rooms. But it would need to be able to mop after sports have taken place

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming the rubber flooring is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical Data Sheet we can recommend Smartkote Safekote.

This is a bare foot friendly anti-slip floor paint that can be applied to rubber and is available in a range of colours or a clear option.

Question:

Greetings from Inverness I have a first floor balcony with GRP floor - painted by the builders. the paint is now peeling off and the grain is visible and i would like to repaint it. There is no way to get info on the paint used originally as the builders went bust long time ago. I want a good protection from rain( scottish weather!) wind and frost and snow. Can please suggest a few alternatives? thanks best Sudhir

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming the peeling paint is removed and the substrate is clean, dry and sound for this application we can recommend the Bullet Roof Mono Top System. Please see the Technical Data Sheet and Application Guide for primer and system requirements.
