Product Specification

Film Thickness Range And Coverage

Coverage: 10.5m² per litre

• HMG technical data sheets (see section above) indicate a dry film thickness that will be achieved when applying a particular wet film thickness
• These values are a guide only and are not to be used as specifications
• Film thickness will vary depending on actual use and specification
• Great care should be taken to achieve the dft stated in the agreed specification and to avoid areas of excessively low or high thickness

Drying Times

Surface Preparation

• Ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free from grease, oils, dust and other contamination prior to application
• Degrease with HMG Prep Clean 2805 for new or Prep Clean 2806 for old or aged substrates
• Lightly abrade using Scotch-Brite Pad and wipe with lint free cloth to remove plastic beading/dust

Application

Substrates

• For application to most suitably prepared hard plastics, PVCu, powder coated, factory finished cladding and many other plastic substrates

Application Climate

• Substrate temperature should be 5⁰C or above for application and during cure, and a minimum of 3⁰C above the dew point
• Adequate dry air ventilation should be supplied during drying

Application Information

• Application and use should always conform with the codes of practice described in BS 6150 and BS 5493

Painting existing coatings (powder coated)

• Check all existing coatings are well adhered with all loose and failed material removed back to firm with all edges well feathered
• Degrease using suitable HMG Prep Clean (see related products at bottom of page)
• Lightly abrade existing coatings to provide key
• Wipe with clean lint free cloth to remove dust etc

Application

• A light dusting should then be sprayed on to the plastic to check that all contaminants have been removed
• Apply 2 coats to give full and even coverage
• Allow a flash off time of 10-15 mins between coats
• Film build should not exceed 25 microns DFT
• The product will be touch dry in around 10-15 mins, and can be overcoated after 1 hour
