Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ is an intumescent paint that provides 30 and 60 minutes fire protection on standard steel sizes and profiles - quick & easy application, fast drying times, water based. Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ is ideal for smaller jobs, easy to use with simplified coverage rates and certificate application.

If your steel is bare, after cleaning/preparation mild steel/cast iron should be primed with Rust-Oleum 3369/3380 CombiPrimer Anti-Corrosion and galvanised steel should be primed with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3.
To suitably primed steel, apply 1 coat of Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ at 2.3m² per litre (420 microns WFT), allow to dry (usually 4 hours (20°C and 60% RH)). Then apply 1 coat of Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ Finish at 12-14m² per litre in the chosen colour and finish.
*1 coat of Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ Finish is normally sufficient but for dark contrasting colours 2 coats may be required.

I am ordering some structural steel and I would normally ask for it to be blasted to SA2.5 and primed with red oxide to ensure no surface rust is generated during storage and transit. The steel will be painted by myself on site with intumescent paint probably applied by brush. Is red oxide a suitable primer? If not what product would you suggest the fabricators use? What paint system do you recommend for this application, the finish will be matt or satin/eggshell in a standard RAL colour? Thanks
Steelwork to be coated with Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ must be primed with an anti-corrosion primer suited to the intended environment of the building and applied to the manufacturer's specification with the exceptions that the Dry Film Thickness does not exceed 100 microns and that thermoplastic, bitumen or chlorinated rubber coatings are not used. If the steel has been galvanised or coated witha zinc-rich primer, a suitable tie-coat should be applied - Consult our Technical Team for guidance.
Before applying Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+, patch prime any damaged areas and ensure the surface is dry, free from rust, oil, grease, dust and other contaminants. Existing decorative finishes must be removed.
Please note the above systems are for internal, dry, heated environments only during application and the service life of the steel. If the application or service life is to be external and/or the project is of a large scale please contact our Technical Team on 0113 2455450 (option 2).

Is Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ Finish available in RAL 6021? The steelwork has already been primed with a metal primer and had a single coat of standard eggshell paint. Is is okay to paint the Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ straight onto this surface and then a coat of Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ Finish?
Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ Finish is available in RAL 6021 Pale Green, however the Zeroflame Aquasteel WB+ 30min System for Steel can only be applied onto to steel primed with a suitable, compatible primer only. Therefore you would need to completely remove the 'standard eggshell paint' before application of the system.

Hi, Can you do ZeroFlame in RAL 060 30 05, or RAL 080 30 05, or RAL 040 30 05 or RAL 7022 ( in order of preference! ) Are there other paint colour standards you use instead of RAL? Many thanks, James
We are able to offer all of the colours you have listed in this product. We are able to offer nearly all RAL, BS and NCS colours except for metallics or fluorescent shades. We can also offer colour matching to bespoke colours if required.

Hi, I need to paint supporting steels (already primed) with a flame resistant paint. I am looking at your ZeroFlame product but do you know which RAL colour is equivalent to Metallic Syntha Pulvin XDKC038 Bronze? Many thanks.
I'm afraid we have no reference of this colour and unfortunately with it being a metallic colour it is something we cannot match in the Zeroflame range.
