Thermoguard Sprayshop Lacquer Topcoat is a hard, wear-resistant Fire Protection AC lacquer for application by professional lacquer sprayers in spraybooths, for wood fire protection.
Provides intumescent fire protection (Class B s2 dO + Class O); when exposed to fire, Thermoguard Fire Varnish expands to create an insulating barrier, protecting timber surfaces from flames, heat and oxygen and suppressing emission of deadly smoke & gasses.

Application
Basecoat
1 spray coat @ 150 microns wet, 75 microns dft. Leave 36+ hrs in good drying conditions. When hard dry apply:
Sprayshop Lacquer
1 spray coat @ 60 microns wet, 30 mirons dft.
For Colours, Woodshades or wear areas 2nd coat after 2 > 36 hrs
If 36+ hrs delay before 2nd coat, abrade to remove gloss & leave overnight to condition before applying 2nd coat.
Equipment
Conventional pressure pot & gun (best) 5 > 10% Thinners.
Airless - 11 thou tip. thin 0 > 5% Thinners.
Avoid solvent contamination of basecoat or water/basecoat contamination.

A Certificate of Supply can be issued upon request for each correctly specified project for Insurance, Fire and Building Control Authority and Client Records against proof of purchase.
Conditions
During application & drying of the full system
Ensure surfaces are thoroughly dry – max 18% moisture content.
Maximum relative humidity RH 75%. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Minimum air temperature 6°C. Minimum surface temperature 3°C above dewpoint– avoid condensation.
New Fire Regulations & Tests Explained
The new fire standard BS EN test lasts 20 mins. with airflow replaces the old BS 476 tests which lasted 10 mins and strangely restricted airflow.
The new standard for flamespread and heat release Class B replaces Class O.
The new BS EN tests also monitor -
Smoke & Gas “s” – s1 + s2 are none or very low & compliant, s3 = moderate smoke, s4 = heavy smoke.
Flaming Droplets or Airborne particulates – dO is none, d1 = low, d2 = moderate d3 = high levels.
