Envirograf Fire & Smoke Drop Curtains are made to order to specific needs, in recessed and surface-mounts. The drop curtains are activated by automatic alarms and detectors to open up escape routes, or close to contain smoke and fire from spreading through buildings, through a 24-volt motorised system.
2 designs available, in recessed or surface mounts:
- New style for smaller openings (450mm – 1800mm)
- Traditional for larger openings (1800mm – 3800mm)
The curtains provide a fire and smoke barrier, tested for up to 80 minutes of fire protection (BS476 Pt22 1987). Fibre-free, the curtains are suitable for use in sterile environments such as hospitals and laboratories and are supplied with a control unit with a 24-volt backup battery. For both curtains, this unit has a manual override test switch for testing, servicing and maintenance, without activating alarms.
Please refer to the Application Guide for more and further information.

Examples of use
Edmonton County School in North London made use of a motorised curtain for protection from either a fire starting in the reception office or in the corridor immediately outside the office. The curtain automatically descents when the fire alarm rings, holding back fire and smoke for up to 80 minutes, allowing schoolchildren, parents, teachers, and visitors extra time to evacuate through fire exits.
Rochester Cathedral in Kent updated its fire protection plan recently. Steeped in history, going back as far as 640 AD, daily lit candles contribute a considerable fire risk to such an iconic building, the seat of the Bishop of Rochester. With conservation contractors considering major expensive and inconvenient alterations that would interfere with the daily services of the Cathedral, it was decided instead that a Fire Drop Curtain would save considerable installation time and money. Utilised in the organ's air-blowing areas, where the volume of air would increase the propagation of fire and transmission of smoke, and behind the choir changing rooms where the main heating boiler sits, the Fire Drop Curtains provide a tough and robust barrier against smoke and fire, protecting the historic Cathedral with the latest fire technology.
