We have 19th century property comprising a ground floor and 1st floor flat. The ground floor ceilings include features we wish to preserve but we need add fire protection for regulational compliance. Can your products be applied on top of the existing emulsion paint?

Can this product be used on decorative plaster ceilings with cornices ? We are looking to upgrade a ceiling within a listed building and the conservation officer will need to see the finished appearance.
Envirograf EP/CP has been used extensively on decorative ceilings within listed properties so would be fit for purpose. In terms of the finished appearance, we'd recommed you purchase a small quantity of product to undertake a sample area for sign off.

If this paint is applied directly to plasterboard (2-3 coats) could an additional 2-3 coats of normal paint be applied on top and the fire resistance maintained?
The manufacturer advises that a standard paint will have no detrimental effect on the fire rating properties of Envirograf EP/CP Fire Protection Coating. They do advise however to carry out a small test area first to ensure adhesion between coats. We would always recommend the application of Envirograf EP/CP Primer on to bare plasterboard prior to application of Envirograf EP/CP Fire Protection Coating.

Can this be applied above the ceiling ie to the back of the board and give you 60 min integrity to the ceiling for building control
Envirograf EP/CP Fire Protection Coating can only be applied to the underside of the ceiling as this is how the product has been tested.

can this be applied to direct to new skim or is there a need to prime or undercoat first.
Envirograf recommend the use of their Envirograf EP/CP Primer prior to application of Envirograf EP/CP Fire Protection Coating on bare/new plasterboard or skim.

With ceiling coated 2 x coats is it ok for tenants to sleep In the room that evening
Envirograf EP/CP Fire Protection Coating is a water based product and is relatively quick drying so with good drying conditions, plenty of ventilation, etc. this SHOULD be OK, but if in doubt allow more time and increase air flow/ventilation to the room by opening windows, doors, etc.
