I have been sent Jotun Jota Armour. There are 3 cans but no instruction for mixing, application etc. Also it will be painted on existing grey non slip deck paint and raw aluminium. Will I need a primer for the areas that the old paint had flaked and it is down to bare alu?
Yes a 2 pack primer such as Jotun Jotamastic 90 which is suitable for application to prepared aluminium, carbon steel or old compatible existing coatings.
Approximately 200 microns should be applied.
The existing coatings must also be 2 pack to be suitable to be over painted.
A solvent rub test should be undertaken if it is not known if the previous coating is 2 pack using Jotun Thinner No. 17.
Leave a rag soaked in the thinners on the painted area for 5mins, if the paint coating reacts, unfortunately a two pack paint will not be suitable for this application unless the previously applied paint is removed.
