503 Easy Clean Anti-Slip Coating is a two-pack solvent-free, high-build epoxy resin coating containing a hard wearing fine particle anti-slip additive that is pre-dispersed into the resin and held in suspension. The result provides a ‘ready to use’ product that leaves an evenly textured, slip resistant surface that is easy to clean and is extremely durable.
503 Easy Clean Anti-Slip Coating will provide a heavy duty, chemical and abrasion resistant fine textured finish on concrete, steel and other substrates. Applied by roller and paint brush the product is low odour producing a seamless, hard wearing, hygienic floor finish.
Note: We recommend using 502 HD Anti-Slip Coating on ramps, very wet/oily areas or other areas that generally require a high level of slip resistance.
This product is for Professional Use Only.
Recommended Uses:
As a slip and chemical resistant floor coating where a less ‘aggressive’ aggregated finish is required and ease of cleaning is important

The above results must only be used as a general guideline as the slip resistance of a cured resin coating can vary considerably due to many factors including: application technique, variations in film thickness, dispersion of the anti-slip texturing additive and the surface variations of the substrate and location to where it will be applied.
To obtain accurate PTV readings that are site specific (if required) it is strongly recommended that a slip assessment pendulum test is undertaken on each specific site after completion of the installation when the resin has fully cured.

Coverage
A 5kg pack is sufficient to apply one coat to 20m² of surface providing an overall d.f.t. of approximately 200 microns
Surface Preparation
Concrete:
Concrete shall be a minimum of 21 days old and/or the residual moisture content shall be below 6%
Ensure that the concrete is clean and free from dust, laitance, grease, oil, curing compound and existing paint finishes etc
Suitable mechanical treatment such as vacuum grit blasting is the preferred treatment prior to application as this ensures a mechanical ‘key’ for the coating
Steel:
Steel surfaces shall be shot blasted or grit blasted to a nominal Sa 2.5 Swedish standard
All dust and grease shall be removed prior to coating application
If a delay is likely to occur between blasting and application then it is recommended that a coat of 404 Epoxy Metal Primer is applied as holding primer to obviate flash rusting
Note: Substrates with high moisture content or oil contamination can still be coated in most instances by the inclusion of one of our specialist primers. Please see 402 Damp Proof Coating and 403 Oil Tolerant Primer for full details.
Mixing:
Pour the contents of the curing agent container into the base container and thoroughly mix, preferably by mechanical means until a uniform colour is achieved
Mixing Ratio:
By Volume - 2.44 Base: 1 Curing Agent
By Weight - 100 Base: 28.2 Curing Agent
Application
Apply by brush, roller or airless spray at a nominal rate of 0.25kg/m²
Ensure coverage rates are adhered to – spreading the product too far can result in reduced durability, performance, opacity, etc
Over application can result in reduced or even no slip resistance
This should be applied to an adequately primed or compatible (test if unsure) previously painted surfaces
Existing coatings need to be sound, free of contaminants and checked for compatibility, adequate adhesion and should be abraded to provide a suitable key for 503 Easy Clean Anti-Slip Coating to adhere
Should you wish to build the film build-up of the coating system, first apply a coat of 304 HD Epoxy Floor Coating at a nominal rate of 0.25 to 0.3kg/m²
Ensure the following coat of 503 Easy Clean Anti-Slip Coating is applied after a minimum of 14 hours and before a maximum of 48 hours
Cleaning
Clean equipment with 109 Tool Cleaner prior to curing of the coating
Curing
Allow to cure for a minimum of 24 hours @ 20°C prior to light foot traffic access and 48 hours @ 20° prior to vehicular trafficking
7 days cure @ 20°C is recommended prior to exposure to chemicals - lower temperatures will extend the curing time
Storage & Shelf Life
Store in dry conditions, out of direct sunlight, at temperatures between 10°C and 25°C
503 Easy Clean Anti-Slip Coating has a minimum shelf life of 12 months when stored in original, unopened containers in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
Health & Safety
Avoid contact of the material with skin and eyes
Wear gloves and goggles
Wash off splashes immediately with soap and water
Any eye contamination must be rapidly irrigated with copious amounts of clean water, and immediate medical attention sought
503 Easy Clean Anti-Slip Coating shall be applied strictly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions

We are looking to specify Rawlins 503 503 Easy Clean Anti Slip Coating in grey and would we would be grateful if you could provide the LRV (Light Resistance Value) for the standard grey paints please?
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We have not carried out LRV testing on the product, however we can advise the RAL colours that are close to the 3 standard greys available in this product and what the LRV is for each colour according to RAL;
Light Grey - (Close to RAL 7035) = 58.34 LRV
Mid Grey - (Close to RAL 7001) = 31.66 LRV
Dark Grey - (Close to RAL 7011) = 12.04 LRV
We obviously cannot comment on how the gloss level of 503 Easy Clean Anti Slip Coating and the aggregate contained within the coating would affect RAL's stated Light Reflectance Values but hopefully this at least provides you an approximation of what they may be near.
Should you require more exact results you would need to carry out testing on the product yourselves to obtain these. However please note that colours will change somewhat batch to batch so unless you carried out testing on the finished floor areas after they had the 503 Easy Clean Anti Slip Coating applied to them, again results may vary.

Question:
We have a retail shop premises with largely various female shoe traffic. The base is non-glazed ceramic tiles over which there are two coats of back general acrylic paint and two coats of white the same (yes we decided on a drastic colour change). The black seems to be pretty fast but the white layers scrape off very easily with footwear and small furniture movement. Obviously we would like to have a much more durable white finish. Will this paint be suitable, or another in your catalogue?
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thank you for the enquiry, assuming the previously painted cermaic tiles are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical data sheet we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR.
We would recommend testing for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application on previously applied coatings.
