• Touch Dry (temperature depending): 3 – 4 hours
• Full Cure – Allow 8hrs

Preparation

Clear all areas of moss, lichen and debris by brushing or power washing and remove surface water. Apply Britannia Fungicidal Wash to prevent further fungal/algal growth.

Application Temperature should be between 5°C-25°C.

Highly Porous/Friable Surfaces:

• Subject to site inspection

Non-Porous Surfaces:

• Subject to site inspection

Bitumen Surfaces:

• Discolouration may occur over a volatile asphalt, tar or bitumen surface; therefore an extra coat may be required

Splits, Cracks, Joints and Seals:

• Pay particular attention to clean out any splits/cracks/joints and seals by scraping or brushing off with a stiff bristle brush
• Repair faults in the surface by embedding a polyester scrim in the first of two coats
• Cut the scrim to a suitable length to ensure an overlap of the ‘fault’ by 75mm all round and embed into the first coat of Britannia Walkway Safety Coating whilst still wet, making sure to force the coating through the mesh

Crazed Areas:

• Crazed areas should be filled using a suitable non-bituminous joint sealant prior to the application of a first coat
• Apply a second coat to the area repaired and then over the whole area to be coated as stated below

In areas where excessive movement may occur additional reinforcement must be incorporated into the coating.

Application

• Stir well before use
• To the dry and cleaned surface, apply a generous coat of Britannia Walkway Safety Coating by brush or roller
• Please follow the coverage rates shown in Spreading Rate Section
• Work away from the area immediately being applied and toward a suitable escape access
• Do not walk on newly coated surface whilst application is in progress
• Application Temperature should be between 5°C-25°C

Cleaning

• For cleaning equipment use Special Solvent (Not White Spirit)

Precautions

• Flammable keep away from sources of ignition
• Ensure good ventilation during application
• Wear gloves, goggles and suitable protective clothing
• In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice
• Remove splashes from the skin with a recognised hand cleaner or plenty of soap and water
• Keep out of reach of children
• Do not use near fishponds
• Harmful to aquatic organisms
• May cause long term adverse effects in the aquatic environments
• Do not empty into drains
• Do not breathe vapour or spray
• Britannia Walkway Safety Coating is not recommended for the treatment of wooden surfaces, tanking, fishponds or internal use
• Air conditioning vents should be sealed for a minimum of 24 hours during and after the application
