questions Bernard Planterose on 2021-02-24 17:50:34
Question:

Which product is best for a recently laid (1 week ago) very smooth power-floated domestic concrete floor? This will be the final surface. Ie not to be tiled or painted so a slight sheen would be ideal but not looking for a gloss. We are in NW Highlands and the building is wind and water tight but we have relatively low temps and very high humidity at this time of year. Hard to see it staying above 4-5 degrees for much longer and could be colder overnight. Grateful for advice, Bernard

Answer:

This sealer and many others require the substrate temperature to be above 10°C for application and at least 3°C above the due point to reduce the risk of condensation during curing which could cause blooming of the floor finish.

This product will leave a sheen to the surface, we would not advise application till the substrate and air temperatures are within the parameters detailed in the Technical Data Sheet, at this point the concrete may of fully hardened and would require preparation by grinding prior to application.

There are other 2 pack clear floor sealers that could be suitable for this application but these will require the concrete moisture content to be less than 5% and will not be suitable for application till the temperatures also rise.
