Tikkurila Fontedur FL Matt is a two-component, water-borne polyurethane lacquer.

It is suitable to be used as a top lacquer for Fontefloor and Temafloor epoxy and polyurethane floors.

Tikkurila Fontedur FL Matt is recommended for sealing floors in office, commercial and residential premises where floor surfaces are under moderate mechanical and chemical stress.

The treatment does not darken concrete or filler-treated surfaces.

Features & Benefits

• Volume Solids: 40±2 %

Surface Preparation

• Remove dust and loose particles from the floor.
• Remove all grease, oil and other impurities by detergent washing.

Practical Coverage

• Untreated concrete: 7–12 m²/l
• Top lacquering: 10–20 m²/l

Practical coverage depends on the porosity and evenness of the substrate.

Drying Time

• Dust dry after 40 min (at 23ºC)
• Fully cured after approx. 1 day (at 23ºC)

At lower temperatures the curing process will last longer.

Application Conditions

• The relative humidity of the concrete should not exceed 97%.
• The temperature of the ambient air, surface or coating should not fall below +10ºC during application or drying.
• Relative humidity of air should not exceed 90%.

Mixing Components

• First stir base and hardener separately
• Mix the correct proportions of base and hardener thoroughly (approx. 3 minutes to get homogenous mixture) by using a low speed industrial hand drill with a paddle
• Insufficient mixing or incorrect mixing ratio will result in uneven drying of the surface, weaken the properties of the coating and risk the success of the application.

Application

Overcoating time depends on the drying time of the product to be overcoated. If overcoating is done over 7 days after priming, the surface has to be abraded and cleaned before applying Fontedur FL Matt.

• Thin 10–20% with water.
• Pour the mixture onto the floor and apply it with a trowel and level with a roller.
• Apply as thin a layer as possible.

Treating a floor with semi-transparent tinted lacquer:

• Color and quality of the substrate have an impact on final color shade and appearance.
• Also application method has an effect on appearance because application marks will be visible.
• Roller application is not recommended for tinted lacquer.
• Characteristic appearance and roughness of concrete surface can be accentuated by applying tinted Fontedur FL Matt by trowel as thin layer as possible.
• The color shade will be more transparent if the floor is first treated with untinted lacquer.
