Watco Universal Sealer Dustproofer is a clear, water based, easy to use sealer. It contains a micronised acrylic which penetrates deep into porous surfaces. Watco Universal Sealer Dustproofer strengthens and binds together weak, poor quality concrete (and similar surfaces) to leave a dust-free hardened surface.
Universal Sealer Dustproofer has many uses making it so versatile. As well as hardening and strengthening concrete, it can be used as a primer to reduce the porosity of highly absorbent surfaces (such as sand and cement screeds), prior to applying a water based coating, and it can be used on brick, blockwork and plaster walls and block paving to help strengthen and bind the sandy joints together.
It is quick and easy to apply with just one coat and most suited for use in warehouses, factories, machine shops and storage rooms, or anywhere which would benefit from a multi-purpose penetrative and virtually odourless dustproofer.
Watco Universal Sealer Dustproofer is breathable and safe for use in confined areas. It has an A+ VOC emissions rating with a very low VOC content.
Bare concrete – a good sweep and/or vacuum is often sufficient on a dusty surface. The surface must be porous to allow the Universal Sealer Dustproofer to penetrate. If there is doubt that the substrate is absorbent, pour some water onto the surface. If the water is easily absorbed the surface is suitable for treating with Watco Universeal Sealer Dustproofer.
For the removal of dirt, light oil and grease we recommend Watco Bio-D. Flush with clean water and allow the surface to completely dry. For heavier deposits, Watco Concroff, a very powerful degreaser, is recommended, again, flush with clean water and allow the surface to thoroughly dry. Avoid wetting very porous surfaces since they will absorb too much water.
New concrete – as a guide, new concrete should be left for four weeks to dry in the summer and six in the winter. Do not acid etch the surface. If the surface is dirty, please clean as per the heading ‘Bare Concrete’.
Surface laitance should be removed by means of mechanical abrasion.
Priming – is not usually required, but for open textured, or very porous high suction surfaces, such as sand and cement, further coats may be required. Do not use on very smooth or power floated concrete, since it will not allow the product to penetrate, instead use Watco Powerfloat Sealer.
No mixing is required, just give it a good shake prior to using.
Use a soft broom to distribute Universal Sealer Dustproofer, working it well into the surface. Ensure that the surface has absorbed as much solution as it can. Use the broom to sweep any excess solution onto adjacent areas.
Avoid ponding, i.e. do not allow any surplus unabsorbed solution to remain and subsequently dry on the surface. Universal Sealer Dustproofer will not leave a surface film (you cannot really tell it has been applied), but it will have penetrated deeply to strengthen and dustproof the substrate.
Do not apply to a painted, sealed, power floated, or non- porous surface since Universal Sealer Dustproofer relies upon penetration.
Do not apply to a damp surface since this will reduce penetration.
Avoid ‘ponding’ – do not allow any surplus unabsorbed solution to remain and subsequently dry on the surface, just push around with a soft broom until it has all been absorbed into the substrate.
Avoid washing and protect from rain for 24-48 hours.
