Dry Film Thickness: 40 - 45 microns

  • Expected spreading rate of 13-15m²/litre at 40 microns dry film thickness.
  • The practical spreading rate may be lower as this depends on factors such as the porosity and roughness of the surface to be painted and material losses during application

Surface Preparation

  • All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants
  • Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint
  • This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically using Acid Etch
  • These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance
  • New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months
  • Other surfaces must be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate
  • Existing painted surfaces - Surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate "key" is produced
  • Remove all loose and flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate and prepare accordingly

  • Mix well before use

  • 10% thinned 301 Industrial Floor paint on concrete
  • Suitable metal or wood primer

  • As dictated by normal good painting practice
  • In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying

  • White Spirit

Can this be used on a concrete patio? Or outside for any use i.e. is it UV resistant?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming there is a DPM under the concrete patio, it is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet this can be used for an external application, it is UV resistant.

questions Corina on 2019-08-06 04:11:48

Hi what paint do you recommend for decking it has to withstand wheelchair use and two small.dogs thanks

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

We have Teamac Deck Paint Smooth and Teamac Suregrip Deck Paint which would both be suited to this application. Details on preparation and application can be found in the product data sheets available to download from the 'Attachments' tab.

questions nick Lane on 2019-04-10 12:59:24

what paint do you recommend on concrete floor of toilet and shower room

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

We would recommend Smartkote Safekote which is a ready-to-use polyurethane coating that provides an attractive, abrasion resistant anti-slip surface. The fine texture is provided by small silica particles which will not hurt bare feet, making it ideal for showers, change rooms, ablution blocks and other surfaces in environments such as hospitals, hotels or children’s playgrounds. Non-porous cement should be acid etched prior to application and if the surface is weak, damp or oil contaminated then you should prime the concrete with Duram Duraprime.

questions Terri on 2019-03-12 11:31:44

Can you tell me what the slip rating of the 301 Ind Floor Paint is please? Thanks.

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

301 Industrial Floor Paint isn't sold as an anti-slip floor coating and as such has had no testing carried out. If you require a slip resistant floor paint we would instead recommend our 501 Anti Slip Floor Paint.

questions Rod on 2019-02-07 20:37:43

questions Diana on 2018-10-19 19:23:05

Hi there, I have matt ceramic tiles in my kitchen and wondered if it could be painted over with your floor paint? Thanks!

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

No, we recommend Smartkote Protectakote Clear Primer Treatment followed by Smartkote Safekote for glazed tiles.

questions Matt  on 2018-04-02 17:49:26

Hi, I have an exterior concrete play area (10m x 4.5) I would like to paint with a non slip finish. Which of your paints would you recommend? Many thanks

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

We would recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR as this contains a rubber granulate to form the anti-slip finish in the product so will provide a less abrasive/coarse surface if children should fall. Please refer to the product information and data sheets for details of application including preparation/priming of concrete. Based on 45m² of surface area you would require 45 litres of Smartkote Protectakote UVR to apply the required 2 coats plus any primer, accelerator, etc. required.

questions Herb Greener on 2017-02-01 11:50:30
Question: The floor I intend to paint has been previously painted with a liquid dpm presumably bitumen based, would your paint take to the surface without extra screed
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Our 301 Industrial Floor Paint can't be used over a bituminous based product but our 313 Acrylic Floor Paint should be fine. Test a small area before use to ensure adhesion, compatibility, etc.

questions Jim Harrison on 2016-10-31 20:21:50
Question: Hi, I have a large area 150 square meter, mostly sheltered, but has a part where the sun shines on to it. can you tell me how much I require? The concrete is a bit rough may need need a screed! Would this product be suitable. Thanks Mr Harrison
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

To apply 2 coats to 150m² you would require 25 litres of 301 Industrial Floor Paint. If you require a screed to level any areas prior to painting we would recommend Rust-Oleum Speed Screed.
