Rust-Oleum 5090 Anti-Condensation Coating is a water absorbing coating to be used on ceilings and the upper parts of walls, where steam or water vapour formation occurs, in order to prevent condensation and dripping. It is intended as a one coat, airless application, but a more textured finish can be obtained by applying 2-3 coats by brush or roller.

This off-white, anti-condensation paint should be used on ceilings and walls, and is intended for one coat application by airless spray. Rust-Oleum 5090 can be used where steam or water vapour formation occurs, in order to prevent condensation and dripping.

1 litre of product will, after drying, absorb at least 400 grams of water!

Is this product suitable for application to the underside of a corrugated iron shed roof?


Yes, assuming the surface is bare metal, after preparation (see product data sheet) apply Rust-Oleum Mathys Metal Cladding Primer followed by Rust-Oleum 5090 Anti-Condensation Coating.

Please note that Rust-Oleum 5090 Anti-Condensation Coating works in an environment where there is short term high humidity followed by longer periods when humidity can escape e.g. bathrooms. It cannot work where the humidity builds up and cannot then escape. So if this shed was closed and humidity built up a as a result of sunshine, you would still get condensation forming and then dripping down from ceiling.

Question: Hi, is this paint safe to use in a child's bedroom? I am trying to find a paint for a small cold bedroom that is prone to condensation. I am having his walls insulated and then I need to paint the plastered walls. Is this paint appropriate and also what would I need to prime the plastered walls with in a room prone to condensation. many thanks

Rust-Oleum 5090 Anti-Condensation Coating is intended for commercial applications, for domestic projects we would recommend Thermilate InsOpaint Anti-Condensation Paint. Once dry, prime the bare plaster walls with 1 coat of Zinsser Gardz, followed by 2-3 coats as required of Thermilate InsOpaint Anti-Condensation Paint.
