![]() | Question: Hello Can I use this directly onto fresh plaster or would it first need a normal mist coat? Thanks |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Assuming the bare fresh plaster is allowed to fully dry before use, it is clean, dry and sound this could be applied. It is recommend two coats to be applied, with the first coat thinned down by 5-10% with White Spirit to Prime and Seal, before a second undiluted coat to finish. This product can either be left as a finish or over-painted with a suitable topcoat for decorative purposes.
![]() | Question: Can you wallpaper over after having applied this paint |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: While you can wallpaper over a previously painted area, with this product it will hinder the efficiency of the paint. As an alternative we can recommend Coo-Var Anti-Damp Paint, this can also have wall paper applied to it. This paint should control the speed in which the moisture is released through the wall, so it should stop wall paper peeling off.
![]() | Question: Can this be used as an undercoat or sealing coat prior to covering with another bathroom topcoat paint? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: This paint can be applied and left as a finish coat or overpainted.
![]() | Question: Can I use this on a damp patch of plaster in my lounge? I have no leak and it is not rising damp. (Think it might be condensation but not sure). I am a DIY novice! Thank you. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Yes this product is suitable for application to walls to address residual surface moisture, this can also be over painted for decorative purposes. If the issue is caused by condensation, improving air flow will also be benifical.
![]() | Question: Would this product be suitable for interior facing bricks which are below DPC (Garage). Due to differing ground levels the exterior of the bricks are below ground level and are damp / wet throughout winter months. |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: This is for combatting residual moisture on internal walls. Assuming the internal brickwork is bare, clean, dry, sound and prepared as detaield in the technical data sheet we can recommend Zinsser Watertite for this application.
![]() | Question: I have plastic cladding over my wet rooms that have become stained. Can i use this to paint over and bring it back to being white and clean? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: No, assuming the plastic is not exposed to direct water contact, it is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend Zinsser Bulls eye 1-2-3 followed by Zinsser Perma-white interior. We would recommend testing for compatibility and adhesion on plastics prior to full application. This can be mixed to many RAL and BS colour options in a satin or matt finish. This is a scrubbable paint suitable for high humidity areas.
![]() | Question: Hello, Would this be suitable for a concrete base shed floor? Cheers |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: No, this product is only for application to walls, assuming the concrete floor has no DPM it is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend 402 Damp Proof Coating. This provides a surface damp proof membrane and can be used as a finish subject to traffic.
