Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is a water-based, single-component paint, designed for easy spray application and yet gives the same protection as a complicated and more expensive polyurethane systems. Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde forms a thick anticorrosive membrane that offers excellent protection against water, salt spray and aggressive environments. Independent research as per the ISO 12944 standard demonstrates that Noxyde is the absolute BEST in corrosive protection - it even offers more than 15 years of protection in the highest corrosion class C5-M.
Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde combines flexibility, strong adhesion, water resistance, excellent edge coverage and anti-corrosive pigments while requiring minimal surface preparation. Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is a single pack water-based elastic coating ideal for use on metal cladding, metal roofs, bridges, silos, electrical isolation and more made from iron, steel, copper, aluminium, plastisol, zinc, lead, galvanised metal and PVDF (with a special primer).

30 years track record!
Noxyde has been tested by many institutes and the results are phenomenal with reports of “unsurpassed corrosion control”. Since 1972, Peganox has been applied all over the world in many different climates, from very hot and dry to humid, rural-coastal, onshore and offshore... No impact upon the product's effectiveness was recorded, therefore Peganox is the number one choice for metal protection.
The Noxyde Family
- Noxyde - The original formula for spray application (350 µm), Maximum corrosion protection and waterproofing
- Peganox - Noxyde formulation optimised for brush and roller application (150 µm)
- Pegarust - Solvent based formulation for lower temperatures down to 0ºC
Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is a premium, state-of-the-art, easy-to-use product ideal for long-term corrosion protection of metal surfaces. Its unique formulation performs like no other coating on the market and offers unsurpassed rust protection with minimal labour. It is an excellent over coating and alternative to sandblasting.
It is your responsibility to read the Product Data Sheets (available below) before you place an order and prior to application of the product. The content of this website is our best recommendation and is not advice. Coverage rates quoted are approximate, you agree that coverage depends on the condition of the substrate, surface absorption, texture and application method. We ALWAYS recommend a trial area is coated to ensure the product meets your requirements before use.

Hello, is this product suitable for painting a steel pick up bed on a 4x4 & what type of finish i.e gloss, matt, satin etc. Kind regards Darren
No, we would instead recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR for this application.

Question: Is your Noxyde paint suitable for use on acid primed aluminium greenhouse ?
By 'acid prime' we are assuming you've used some sort of single pack, acid etch primer. We'd need a copy of the Technical Data sheet to confirm potential compatibility but subject to it being acceptable Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is designed for airless spray application, if you intend to apply by brush or roller then Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde Peganox would be more suited.

Question: Can this be painted onto Plastisol coating on roof cladding?
Yes, Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is ideally suited to this application. It can be applied directly to correctly cleaned and preparated Plastisol Colorcoat HP200 and HPS200 Metal Cladding. HP200 is easily recognised by its classic ‘leathery’ surface texture and has been available since 1987, HPS200 has been available from 1998 and has a ‘dimpled’ surface texture and looks quite different from the traditional ‘leathergrain’ Plastisol.
Other metal cladding types such as PVDF, PVF2, Polyester, Polyurethane, Power Coating, etc. require special consideration and in most instances will require a primer coat prior to applicaiton. These surfaces are usually easily recognisable by their ‘smooth’ appearance, however due to the nature of these cladding types we ALWAYS recommend our Technical Department is consulted for advice prior to commencement of works.

Question: We have gates which have some rust and have previously been painted with Hammerite. Can we use this paint sprayed directly onto the (cleaned) prepainted and rusty surfaces?
Yes, as long as you prepare the surface to remove any loose and flaking paint and rust, Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde can be applied directly.
Surface Preparation should be as follows;
Remove grease, oil and all other surface contaminations by alkaline or high pressure (steam) cleaning (max. 200 Bars) in combination with appropriate detergents. The substrate has to be dust free and made rust free by means of sandblasting (Sa2, St2) or high pressure water jetting (min. 600 Bars). After jetting, the substrate has to be dust free. On new galvanised surfaces, new zinc, aluminium, stainless steel, apply first a coat of Rust-Oleum Mathys Pegalink Universal Adhesion Primer. On ferrous substrates, apply Noxyde in red or grey as the first coat. In all instances apply contrasting Noxyde colours for subsequent layers.
