    Description

Coo-Var Hammercote Smooth Finish  is a premium quality durable coating which provides a glossy smooth finish. As a rust resistant coating Hammercote provides a long lasting finish for metal, ironwork and many other suitably well prepared surfaces. This coating is fast drying and suitable for interior and exterior use. Hamemrcote is highly versatile being convenient and easy to use.

For applications where a hard, durable, smooth finish is required. Wrought iron, cast metal parts, tool boxes, machinery, instruments etc

    Surface Preparation

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from grease, oil and any other contaminates. Bare steel should be free from dust, rust and scale. Blast cleaning to SA 2½ is recommended. If blast cleaning is impractical, mechanical cleaning should be employed but hand cleaning does not clean the steel to the required degree. Any oil or grease should be removed with solvent before de-rusting. Where blast cleaning is carried out after assembly, special attention must be paid to edges, corners, nuts, bolts welds, etc. Welds should, if necessary be ground and all weld spatter, slag etc. must be removed.

    Application Conditions

As dictated by normal good painting practice. In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.

    Preceding Coat

Direct to prepared metal or Rapidry Zinc Phosphate Primer.

    Subsequent Coat

    Hammercote Smooth Finish

Coo-Var Hammercote is also available in a hammered finish - Coo-Var Hammercote Hammered Finish

    questions Rosie O’Connor on 2021-11-23 10:24:56
    Question:

Would this paint work with aluminium?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming the aluminium is bare, clean dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet we can recommend priming first with Coo-Var Water Based All Metals Primer.

questions Chris Moorley on 2018-06-26 10:05:27
    Question:

Do you have a data sheet that i can give to my client that says how good this product is at covering and holding back RUST. I will be using this on metal work that is already painted and has signs of rust. The surface at the moment has u/coat and oil based gloss finish. This building is within 50m of the sea so a high corrosive area.

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

You would need to expose and convert any rust with Coo-Var Rust Converter and then apply 2 - 3 coats of Coo-Var Hammercote Smooth Finish.

Rust prevention is a function of thickness and resistance. Coo-Var Hammercote Smooth Finish gives a high build, however Coo-Var have no corrosion data for Hammercote specifically so the only information available for your client would be the Product Data Sheet, available to download from the 'Download' section on the product page.

    questions Fisher on 2017-11-20 12:05:07
Question: Can I use coo var hammercote smooth spray in a temperature of 8 degrees or is that too cold.
    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

The minimum object temperature should be 10°C for both aerosols and wet paint in Coo-Var Hammercote Smooth.
