Blackfriar High-Heat Resistant Paint is a heat-resistant, smooth and hard-wearing black matt finish for metal. Heat resistant up to 600°C. Ideal for barbecues, grates, chimineas and radiators. A durable and attractive finish.
Preparation
Not for use on wood burning stoves or objects which come into direct contact with flames. Ensure surface to be coated is clean, dry, sound and free from wax, grease or any other contamination. Previously painted surfaces in sound condition should be abraded and degreased prior to direct application of Blackfriar High-Heat Resistant Paint. Remove any rust and abrade back to a clean bright surface before applying. New or other bare surfaces should first be heated up in use, allowed to cool and then abraded before applying Blackfriar High-Heat Resistant Paint.
Blackfriar High-Heat Resistant Paint works better and lasts longer if not over applied - apply 2 coats as thinly as possible. If applied too heavily this product will fail prematurely. The product cures with the action of heat. Full durability will not be achieved until the coated object has been used in normal circumstances. A minimum of 250°C for 45 minutes, not exceeding 600°C.
Application
Stir thoroughly prior to use with a broad stirrer. The product may be applied by brush, roller or spray. Two coats are recommended to give best protection.
Thinning
Do not thin.
Limitations
Do not use under cold (less than 5°C), damp or humid conditions. Do not apply to warm or hot surfaces. Heat resistant up to 600°C - ensure your surface does not exceed this. Not for use on surfaces which come into direct contact with flames
Drying Times
Touch dry in 1 hour. Recoat after 2 hours.
Clean Up
Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing with water. Do not empty into drains or water courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for the disposal of waste coatings.

![]() | Question:
Could I use this on the downlight rings ? |
Answer:
Blackfriar High-Heat Resistant Paint needs to be stoved to enable it to achieve its full hardness. This means taking the surface it has been applied to a temp of 240oc for about 45 minutes. Whilst it is suitable for application to most metals it is unlikely to stick to a light fitting which is most likely to be chrome. | |
![]() | Question:
I just wanted to know if I can use this paint over previously painted all surface paint on my cooker as I need to make sure that the paint is fire resistant. |
Answer:
No unfortunately not. | |
