Coo-Var Rust Converter will protect surfaces from further corrosion by allowing the application of topcoats onto substrates where rust cannot be fully removed.
It is a water based coating for use on iron and steel surfaces. This product will turn any rust on the substrate into a stable surface allowing the user to then be able to coat the substrate without the risk of any further corrosion.
Surface Preparation
Surfaces should be clean and free from surface dirt, dust and grease. Light to medium rusted steelwork must be properly prepared by wire brush or power tools (SSPC SP3) to remove loose millscale and flaky rust or paint, which is not sound or tightly adhered. Weathered steel should be high pressure water or wet abrasive blasted to SSPC SP6. Best results are achieved if some bright metal (10%) is showing in the rusted area.
Mixing Instructions
Stir or shake lightly - Do Not Thin.
Application Conditions
Apply when humidity is between 40 and 90% and the temperature is above 5°C. On warmer days it is recommended to damp down warm steel surfaces with a mist of water prior to application.
Preceding Coat
Apply direct.
Subsequent Coat
Coo-Var Zinc Phosphate Primer.
Remarks
