  • Manufactured under the auspices of an ISO 9001:2008 quality & ISO 14001:2004 environmental management systems

Suitable for use on:

  • Suitably prepared metals - ferrous and non-ferrous
  • Wood
  • Plastic
  • uPVC
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Glass
  • Existing painted surfaces
  • Exterior cladding offering hard wearing, flexible, weather and light resistance, ideal for use over existing cladding coatings (coil, plastisol and powder coatings) with minimal preparation

Preparation

  • Loose and non adhered contamination should be removed. Cleaning using Bradite TD39 Industrial Degreaser or methylated spirit is recommended to remove oils, grease and other contamination
  • Intact areas of existing coatings should, ideally, be roughened by manual or mechanical sanding. Feather back exposed areas to a sound coating edge. Cracks and pits should be filled using a suitable filler before painting. Substrate should be dust free and completely dry before coating
  • This product is not recommended for painting lime or other natural plasters

Stain Locking

Encapsulates stains in the primer coat, application of second coat will be required to hide and in extreme cases a third. One Can should be allowed to hard dry prior to overcoating this will take at least one hour, over application may result in longer drying times.

Aluminum, stainless steel, galvanised steel, copper and other metals

Cleaned and degreased with methylated spirit, and lightly abraded if possible. White salts on weathered galvanising must be removed during cleaning and degreasing. Light surface rusting can be treated with Bradite Rust Convertor RC46. Heavy rusting to be removed to clean metallic finish (SIS-St 3).

New Wood

Ensure moisture content of the timber is below 15% before commencing application. Damp wood should never be painted as this may give rise to blistering, flaking, cracking and premature coating failure. Knots to be wiped using methylated spirit, for heavy or active knots spot prime with Aluminum Wood Primer.

Hard Woods

Wipe with methylated spirit to remove excess resin, changing the face of the cloth regularly. Lightly abrade.

Green Oak

Should not be painted unless it has been weathered for at least 6 months.

Exterior cladding, Powder coated, Varnish and Existing paint finish

Remove all loose and flaking paintwork. Degrease using Bradite TD39 Industrial Degreaser, followed by clean water rinse. Rub down thoroughly with a medium grade sand paper to provide a key and a defect free smooth surface, “feathering in” areas where paint has been removed.

UPVC, Formica, Melamine and Plastics

For long term performance, degrease using methylated spirit & lightly abrade surfaces

New Plaster Walls

For plaster skim, allow at least four weeks for the plaster to thoroughly dry. Apply a primer coat by thinning the paint with a 5 to 25% (v/v) addition of clean water, depending upon the porosity of the substrate. Cut in by brushing at the same dilution recommendation as for priming, to promote flow and sealing of the substrate. For new, fully plastered walls, allow at least six months for the plaster to thoroughly dry before painting.

Application

  • All surfaces must be dry and dust free before coating
  • Application should always conform with the codes of practice described in BS 6150 and BS 5493

Question:

How long is the guarantee on a front door before it would need re-painting? Also why would it keep flaking in some parts despite sanding and re-coating, particularly around beading?

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

If flaking is occuring there could be a few possible causes, please can you provide more information and pictures of the areas to [email protected]

Question:

can you use this product Bradite One eggshell for painting modern kitchen cupboards, that are made of mdf with a coating on top

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Assuming you check for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application, the substrate is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet then yes.

If you are looking for a scuff resistant and scrubbable option assuming you check for compatibility and adhesion prior to full application we can recommend Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 followed by Zinsser Perma-White Interior.

The decorator is wanting to put a primer on my old wood internal staircase so he can see where it needs filling and any imperfections, is it ok to use your ok to use your Bradite One Can on top of normal primer, also which would you suggest best for internal old wood staircase, (you have so many) ie quick drying. Thank you

Bradite One Can is suitable for both application to bare or previously painted timber and would be classed as a primer/finish. We would not recommend this product be used on any areas that would be walked on.

questions Sarah on 2021-05-30 10:39:56
Question:

Hello, I see that this can be used for a vinyl wardrobe, can it also be used on vinyl flooring? I have a very small area at the bottom of my stairs that I’d like to paint. Many thanks,

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

We would recommend you test for compatibility and adhesion prior to application as it does not list vinyl as a substrate.

This is not suitable for use on a floor, assuming the vinyl floor is clean, dry, sound, prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet, you also test for compatibility and adhesion prior to application we can recommend Smartkote Protectakote UVR Smooth.

This is available in black, white or clear.

Question:

I have fitted wardrobe which has a vinyl surface finish. Does the vinyl need any prep to ensure adhesion. Thanks

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Bradite One Can would be suitable for painting over vinyl coated wardrobes, clean and degrease using Bradite Industrial Degreaser diluted with 9 parts warm water and scrubbing, rinse with clean water and allow to dry. Apply three coats allowing not less than 1 hour between coats, in the colour of choice.

questions Alistair Spiers on 2019-02-04 14:38:12
Question:

Is it possible to get your one can paint in clear? We have some very old interior wood cladding that the client wants to have a colour wash finish,so we don't want to obliterate the grain with a primer, but do want to block the knots and seal rusty nails.thanks Alistair

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Bradite One Can is not available in clear. Zinsser SealCoat would be a good product to try. It will seal the knots and rust stains. It may pay to put a couple of coats on where there are rust stains. You can then apply a colour wash coat over the SealCoat. You may need to do some tests with the colour wash over the Sealcoat.
