    Axalta ViterLac C12 Primer/Finish is a single pack, fast-drying, phenolic-modified alkyd primer/finish, specially developed for the transport container market.

    • Indefinitely overcoatable for easy repair - Eggshell finish disguises dents and welds
    • Good colour stability provided by high quality pigments
    • Available in Standard Black (20L only) and 350+ RAL and BS shades

    Please note: Colours are sold in the nearest tin size but actual paint volume per tin may vary up to 10% depending on colour.

    It offers a high level of anticorrosive protection in aggressive environments. Axalta ViterLac C12 Primer/Finish is fast drying and indefinitely overcoatable for easy repair.

    Used for dry cargo transport containers, ISO tank containers, anti-vandal accommodation units, waste containers and other industrial steel fabrications.

    Axalta ViterLac C12 Primer/Finish is tested for resistance to BS148 transformer oil for 196 hours at 90°C.

    Drying and recoating times are related to the film thickness, temperature, the relative humidity of the air and ventilation



    Surface Preparation


    • All surfaces to be coated should be dry and cleaned as necessary to remove all oil, grease, salts, weld flux or other contamination
    • Where necessary, remove weld spatter and grind smooth all sharp edges and weld seams
    • Blast clean to Sa2½ (ISO 8501-1:2007), surface profile 50-75 microns
    • Can also be applied to clean, dry, abraded steel
    • Aluminium and Zinc coated surfaces: Surfaces should be degreased, abraded and etch primed prior to application of ViterLac C12*

    Mixing


    • Must be mixed thoroughly by using a mechanical agitator before use
    • Agitate periodically to ensure paint remains homogeneous

    Application Conditions


    • Only apply in conditions of good ventilation which must be maintained during drying and curing
    • Do not apply when rain, mist, sleet or snow are imminent
    • During application and drying time of the paint coating, the surface should be dry, the relative humidity should not exceed 85% and the steel temperature should remain at least 3°C above the dew point
    • Paint temperature should ideally be at a minimum of 15ºC



    Application Methods


    • Airless Spray: is the preferred method. Output fluid pressure at tip 2000 psi, Tip Size 13-15 thou (0.33-0.38 mm)
    • Air assisted and HVLP: are also suitable. Please consult Axalta Coating Systems or Rawlins Paints Technical Department on 0113 2455450 (option 2) or send a message to [email protected] for advice
    • Conventional spray: requires thinning by up to 10% with 1006 Thinner
    • Brush should be used for touch-up of small areas



    Product Notes


    • A dry film thickness of 125µm is recommended over blast cleaned steel substrates
    • Some shades may contain lead-based colourants, these are labelled (L)
