Application Instructions
Before starting to prepare work for painting, blow swarf and dust from the substrate.
Mask the substrate, covering all surfaces which do not require painting.
Clean the substrate using Vinylkleen. This will remove all water soluble contaminants together with most oils.
Thoroughly clean the surface again using Windowprep on a clean white cloth which should be regularly turned.
Lightly abrade the surfaces to be painted with red Scotchbrite and remove debris.
Check that the paint colour is correct, then thoroughly stir the Kolorbond Aquatek paint making sure that any colourants on the base of the can are mixed in. Do not shake or over stir. Avoid producing bubbles in the paint. If this happens, allow the bubbles to come to the surface and disipate.
To avoid leaving brush marks or to keep a ‘wet edge’ on a warm day, Stir in 10% of KolorFlow (maximum 20%). This will slow the drying of the paint and assist leveling. The addition of KolorFlow also assists when spraying in hot weather. It is essential that you add KolorFlow if applying by roller to prevent stippling of the paint due to it drying too fast.
Use a tack rag, if necessary, to remove any dust or swarf remaining on the surface of the substrate
Spray or brush paint the substrate with a medium coat. Do not over brush.
Allow the first coat to dry (approx.14 minutes) then apply a second coat. A third coat may be added if the colour change is drastic. Any inclusions should be removed gently, with red Scotchbrite, between coats.
The paint will continue to cure and harden for up-to a week. Curing can be greatly speeded up by applying heat from a hot air gun or infra-red lamp after the paint is touch dry. Be careful not to damage the paint or substrate with excessive application of heat.
Wash equipment, immediately after use with clean cold water.
Note: Put any brush you use in water if you stop painting, even for a short time. If the paint dries on your brush you will have to throw it away.

Hello, can the UPVC paint be applied in colder weather conditions? Many thanks Pete
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately for application of this product the temperature for application and curing must be over 10°C.
While the solvent based spray application only Kolorbond Original can be applied at 8°C it must also be over this for curing.
Care must be taken to ensure moisture does not form on the service while curing.

Question:
Can this paint be used on fin lock gutters, please?
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Assuming you are looking to paint the outside of the fin lock gutters, they are upvc, clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the technical data sheet yes.
We also stock this product as part of a kit, including the required preparation materials.
KolorFlow slows the drying of the paint, so can also be used to keep a wet edge when brushing or to prevent the paint from drying too fast on a hot day.

Question:
Will this work on PVC panels? And can I order some sample colours please? Kind regards Hayley
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This is suitable for application on to PVC in most forms be it panels or window frames etc - the recommended cleaners would need to be used to ensure adhesion of the product and that a warranty could be offered. We don't offer samples I'm afraid so you could either order the smallest size available in the product in the colours you are interested in or alternatively look at a RAL or BS colour chart to aid in choosing your desired colour.
