Kolorbond DecoPro, a two pack PU coating which can be applied directly onto a variety of substrates including metals, GRP, composite doors and hard plastics including PVCu (uPVC). It is a brushable version of Kolorbond K2. Guaranteed adhesion for 10 years, with 5 years guarantee on colour fastness - Performance and guarantees not valid without purchase and use of the hardener and the relevant cleaning products.

Please note: hardener in 1.25L, 2.5L and 5L sets are supplied in the correct measured quantities to be mixed together in full to achieve the correct mixing ratio when combined (4 parts base to 1 part hardener).

Highly resistant to abrasion

Kolorbond DecoPro is based on two pack polyurethane/acrylic technology, making the finished coating highly resistant to abrasion, and other accidental damage. It is very durable, once dry, and easy to apply by brush or roller and it may be spray applied if thinned with K2 Thinners (Max 20%).

No primer required

In most applications, Kolorbond DecoPro does not require a primer and is able to be applied in a high film thickness. Most applications are possible in one stage saving substantial time compared to other coatings.

Application Instructions

This paint is for professional use only when sprayed - The HSE now insist that operatives involved with the spraying of 2 pack isocyanate paints must wear a suitable air fed mask and other PPE - see Material Safety Data Sheet for more details.

Performance and guarantees not valid without purchase and use of the hardener and relevant cleaning products

1. Mask the substrate, covering all surfaces which do not require painting.
2. Clean the substrate using Vinylkleen. This will remove all water soluble contaminants together with most oils.
3. Thoroughly clean the surface again using Windowprep on a clean white cloth which should be regularly turned. A heavy duty solvent cleaner may be required if there is heavy oil or silicon contamination.
4. Lightly abrade the surfaces to be painted with red Scotchbrite and remove debris. Uncoated metals must be abraded with a grit paper to remove any oxidation.
5. Check that the paint colour and gloss level are correct. Thoroughly stir the Kolorbond DecoPro paint making sure that any colourants on the base of the can are mixed in.
• Stir in the required amount of K2 Hardener, 4:1 by volume. The paint will now have a maximum pot life of 2 hours. Only mix the amount of paint you can use in that time.
• If applying to glass, add 10% G-pro Glass Additive (available under "Add ons" further above) and mix in thoroughly
6. Use a tack rag, if necessary, to remove any dust or swarf remaining on the surface of the substrate.
7. During application skin and cloths must be protected by the use of gloves etc. Brush apply the paint using a good quality brush and apply an even coat. If applying by roller the paint may require thinning with Kolorbond K2 Thinners. If applying by spray the paint will have to be thinned using 20% Kolorbond K2 thinners and an air fed spray mask must be used. Spray application is for professionals only.
8. Allow the first coat to be touch dry then apply a second coat. A third coat may be added if a dry finish of up to 90µ thickness is required. Any inclusions should be removed gently, with red Scotchbrite, between coats.
9. The paint will cure and harden overnight. Decopro paint can, after drying for 7 days, be over coated with itself and can be over coated with itself for 3 months without sanding provided the surface is cleaned.
10. Cleaning of equipment: Brushes and rollers can be cleaned using K2 Thinners.
11. Drying can be accelerated by adding K2 Accelerator (2%).
