Surface Preparation
All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants. Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint. This can bedone mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically, using Coo-Var Acid Etch. These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance. New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months.
Application Conditions
As dictated by normal good painting practice. In confined spaces provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.

10% thinned Coo-Var Floor Sealer
Subsequent Coat
Coo-Var Floor Paint if required.

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: We would not recommend application at those temperatures. The surface temperature of the substrate should at least 10°C. | |

Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Coo-Var Floor Sealer is designed to be used on bare surfaces to seal the surface for the prevention of dusting. This can be used as a finishing coat on bare surfaces. We would recommend removal of the previous coating prior to use. If you wish to try it over the previous coating, abrade and clean the surface prior to testing compatibility on a small area first. | |

I know I can seal it but this means doing it every 6 months and I just don't have the time for it. I like the floor though and don't particularly want to get a whole new floor. I watched a video a while back someone doing some crazy flooring and it was topped with some gloss type looking stuff to finish. I was hoping this would do the same thing but over my slate tiles so I can just use it like a normal floor ??? |
