Question

Is this paint suitable for outside use? Ive a step that in the winter can be difficult to see.ThanksSusan

Answer

No the product isn’t suitable for this application. Rust-Oleum Glow in the Dark works by gradually absorbing from a light source, which it then emits for a short time after the light source is removed/switched off. It is mainly intended for use on children's toys, displays, crafts, etc. which will glow for a while when lights are turned off at night. It will not continue to glow throughout the night.

When used outside under natural daylight conditions, as it gradually gets darker the paint will emit light for a short time, by the time it is completely dark the paint will no longer glow. If it is exposed to a light source during the night it will absorb the light and then glow for a short time when the light is switched off.
The simplest yet reasonably effective method would be a line marking paint in white or yellow for the step edges such as Blackfriar Professional Line Marking Paint.
