    Description

Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint is a water thinned floor paint. Easy to apply and fast drying with low odour. Can be used on tarmac as well as concrete, asphalt, wood, walls, window ledges, bricks or metals. Based on water as a solvent. For foot and light truck traffic use. For use inside or outside.

    Surface Preparation

All surfaces should be clean, dry, sound and free from contaminants. Concrete - power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be roughened first to provide a good "key" for the paint. This can be done mechanically by abrading or blasting, or chemically, using Coo-Var Acid Etch. These processes will have the advantage in addition to preparing the surface of also removing dirt and laitance.

New concrete must be allowed to cure thoroughly which can take up to 3 months. Other surfaces have to be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate. Existing painted surfaces - Surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate "key" is produced. Remove all loose and flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate and prepare accordingly.

    Application Conditions

As dictated by normal good painting practice. Do not apply if the temperature is likely to drop below 7°C during application or during thedrying process. In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying.

    Preceding Coat

Apply direct to wood, Coo-Var All Metals Primer on Metal, Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint thinned 5% with clean water on all other unpainted surfaces.

    Subsequent Coat

    Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint.

    Question:

Ive had my 32m2 garden workshop floor screeded over an old concrete floor. This was done 4 weeks ago. Its no thicker than 70mm one one side and 30 on the other. The workshop is used for storage and light foot traffic. Can you recommend a suitable paint that is vapour permeable and will not blister and peel? Thanks

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

If you have used a purpose designed floor screed for the area then you will need to refer to the manufacturer of this screed to check it can be painted over and if so what type of floor paint they recommend this is done with. If it has been ordinary concrete used instead then once the substrate is thoroughly dry and prepared (see product data sheet available to download from the 'Attachments' tab on the product page) then Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint would be fine to apply.

    Question:

Hi. I am about to have my new garage floor which was concreted have a SIKALEVEL 30 LATEX ULTRA self leveling compound applied to it ( due to several dips in the concrete) and then leave it as the final wearing course The garage is just for normal domestic use (1-2 cars etc) but am looking to paint it afterwards. Which paint would you recommend to use for this purpose? As several say you cant paint on the self leveler and dont really see it necessary to apply two part epoxy resins? Just want it to look nice, stop the dust and not flake or have tyre marks easily. Thanks Many thanks Peter

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

SikaLevel 30 Latex Ultra can be overpainted with PU, epoxy and water based (with high alkaline resistance) coatings. Something like Sikafloor 2540W would be a good option to consider. Due to the range of products on the market we would always advise a pre adhesion test before the full application. Please refer to all product data sheets before use - available to download from the 'attachments' tab on the product page.

    questions R S on 2019-04-22 07:59:01
    Question:

Can this be used on asphalt steps? As asphalt is liable to expand with heat - will it crack the paint? I am wanting to paint the steps as they get the full glare of the sun and are liable to melt in the summer sunshine. Hoping by making lighter colour this will deflect the sun a bit and lower the temperature. If not this paint then an alternative. Although I do not want a reflective paint. Thanks.

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint is fine for use on asphalt, however on steps we would normally suggest the use of Coo-Var Anti-Slip Acrylic Floor Paint instead.

questions Leon Moisis on 2018-08-09 07:57:11
    Question:

Hi I’m looking to buy your acrylic floor paint.. I’m about to sand down wooden flooring which has previously been painted, will your product also act as a primer as well as a top coat? Or would I need to prime first?

    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Existing painted surfaces should be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate "key" is produced. Remove all loose and flaking material. Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint can be applied directly to wood without the need of a primer.

    questions Michelle  on 2016-11-09 20:02:58
Question: HiThe information on this product is unclear for application to sanded wooden floors and I'm hoping you can clarify. The tin says wood surfaces should be primed first, but also says the product thinned with 10% clean water can be used on porous surfaces as a primer and sealant. Is wood considered a porous surface? Or is another primer required? Many thanks Michelle
    Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:

Coo-Var Acrylic Floor Paint should be applied directly to prepared timber surfaces undiluted.
