Blackfriar Anti-Slip Deck Coating is a clear deck coating which allows the beauty of wood to show through whilst providing a slip-resistant surface. Blackfriar Anti-Slip Deck Coating provides all types of exterior timber decking and walkways with a protective, slip resistant surface. Containing micro-aggregates, this coating gives increased grip in wet conditions and can be applied over new or existing decking stains as well as bare timber.

Features & Benefits

  • Ideal for exterior timber decking and walkways
  • Micro-aggregates give increased grip
  • Clear protective coating
  • Excellent coverage

Preparation:

Ensure surface to be treated is clean, thoroughly dry, sound and free from wax, oil or any other contamination. It is important that the substrate is thoroughly dry before application and during the drying period otherwise blanching (whitening) may occur. Existing coatings should be lightly sanded to aid adhesion. Weathered timber should be made good. On bare wood the use of a decking stain is recommended prior to application of Blackfriar Anti-Slip Deck Coating as this will give the wood better UV resistance and prolong the lifetime of the coating. Ensure new or bare timber is adequately preserved prior to applying wood finishes, apply Blackfriar Wood Preservative Gold Star (Clear) to untreated timbers where required.

Application:

Stir thoroughly prior to use. For best results apply two coats by short pile roller. Allow the first coat to fully dry before applying a second coat. A brush may be used for small or awkward areas. Thinning not recommended.

Question

Good Afternoon I would like to know if you can use the clear Anti -Slip coating over decking that has already had a coat of cupranol decking stain Regards Karen

Karen from Northampton (Northamptonshire) - 03/10/16

Answer

As long as the Cuprinol product does not contain any wax, then Blackfriar Anti-Slip Deck Coating should be fine to apply. If it does contain wax you may be able to leave it to weather for approximately 6 months to allow any waxes to wear away and then apply Blackfriar Anti-Slip Deck Coating - be sure to carry out a test area prior to full application if this is the case.

Blackfriar Anti-Slip Deck Coating

Dear Sirsis that possible to use this anti-slip coating for the floors inside the private house? And other question - how often is necessary to renew the coating?Thank you in advance, Gunita Vilmane [email protected]

GUNITA from RIGA (LATVIA) - 22/08/16

We do not recommend the Blackfriar Anti-Slip Deck Coating is used on interior surfaces as it would provide a poor appearance and be difficult to clean. To provide a low slip finish internal we would normally recommend a matt or satin floor varnish would be a better option (such as Coo-Var Polyurethane Clear Floor Coating). The floor varnishes are quite hard wearing and should last a number of years before needing to be recoated in the high wear areas.
