    Preparation & Pre-Installation

    Handling and Storage

    • PFT Overbanding MUST be kept dry at all times
    • PFT Overbanding should be stored at temperatures 10-30°C
    • Boxes must be kept flat
    • When stored correctly, the shelf life of PFT Overbanding is in excess of 2 years

    Safety

    • Protective clothing (safety shoes, long trousers, hot gloves) should be worn in the installation of PFT Overbanding
    • Installers should face downwind in order to keep the gas torch flame away from the body

    Application Area

    • The crack width must be ≤ 5mm
    • Surface are must be flat with little sloping
    • The surface MUST be clean AND dry. Remove all loose debris (dirt, stones, dust, liquids, etc) and remove moisture with the gas torch

    Application

    Installation

    1. Ensure that the application area is clean by removing all loose debris
    2. Ensure all moisture is removed from the surface and crack interior using the gas torch
    3. Place the material ‘shiny-side’ down (beaded surface facing up) centrally over the crack. The material can be scored with a knife to the correct length and broken along the score mark
    4. Heat the material with a gas torch by sweeping evenly along its length in 30cm sweeps
    5. Heating is complete when: the edges have settled against the surface; the material begins to bubble; the ends of different pieces have bonded together
    6. The material will harden after approximately 15 minutes of cooling
    7. Once fully cooled, check the installation by trying to lift it from the surface using a chisel or similar. This should especially be done at each end. Should the material lift, additional heat can be applied to ensure bonding. Ensure re-heating is done as soon as possible after inspection lest moisture ingress at the interface
