A coved skirting helps cleaning by eliminating the dirt trap at the junction of the floor and the wall.
Watco Concrex Coving Mortar is a strong, finely textured, lightweight mixture which makes it easier to create a strong coving.
It is used with Watco Tack Coat primer for maximum adhesion to the wall but minimal drag on the trowel during application.
Based on the technology of Watco Concrex, this mortar is incredibly tough, chemical and impact resistant.

Surface Preparation
Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from loose material. Wire brushing and sweeping should suffice, Watco Bio-D can be used to remove grease and oil. Prepare at least 100mm at the base of the wall and 100mm at the floor edge to accommodate the skirting.
Mixing
A 5kg pack contains aggregate pre-blended with resin and a tin of curing agent. It is recommended that the whole pack is mixed at once. (Please note that once mixed, the product is usable for up to 1 hour.)
Do not mix the product inside the bucket. Put on protective gloves. Tip the aggregate into a mixing tray or a board. Shake the tin of curing agent thoroughly. Form the aggregate into a mound, leaving a small hole in the middle. Empty the tin of curing agent into the hole, ensuring the contents are completely drained.
Carefully mix the aggregate with the curing agent using a trowel until a smooth, grey mortar is obtained. The more thorough the mixing, the ‘wetter’, smoother and more manageable the mix becomes. Alternatively, you may find it easier to knead the mixture by hand, still wearing gloves. It is important to mix thoroughly, until you achieve a consistent grey colour.
Application
Trowel the mortar firmly over the Tack Coat Primer. Use the Watco Coving Trowel to achieve the cove radius. Moisten a rag with white spirit and frequently wipe the blade. This helps to achieve a good finish.
The product can be feather edged, at the top and base of the coved skirting. If laying over an expansion joint, saw cut through the cured mortar, following the joint, to prevent random cracking.
Overcoating
The product is non dusting but can be painted, should a sealed more easily cleaned surface be required. Water based paints or solvent free epoxy resins (eg Watco Epoxy Gloss Coat and Watco Chemi-Coat) can be applied after 12 hours (at 15°C+). The product must be left for at least 7 days before applying a solvent-based paint.
