Watco Concrex Vertical is a two-part epoxy resin mortar with special lightweight fillers and is approximately a third of the density of ordinary mortars. This means it can be used on vertical or overhead repairs without slumping or falling out as the repair sets. It can be pushed into the repair with a trowel, smoothed off to a feather-edge and left to cure hard. This saves having to prepare the shuttering and support which would be required for an ordinary mortar.
Watco Tack Coat adhesive primer must be used before applying Watco Concrex Vertical/Cold Set. This provides unparalleled adhesion to the substrate. It will not shatter under impact like conventional cementitious mortars. The cured surface is impervious to rain and will not be affected by frost or airborne pollution and is resistant to a wide range of chemicals.
Watco Concrex Vertical will cure in 3 - 6 hours plus, depending on temperature and will normally be unaffected by rain a few hours after application (at 20°C). Concrex Vertical Cold Set will cure at temperatures as low as 0°C. Please note that when purchasing Watco Concrex Vertical/Cold Set, its special lightweight fillers means that a 10kg unit contains approximately twice the volume of material when compared with a 10kg unit of a Watco Concrex floor repair product.

Surface Preparation
Concrete and render – Should be at least four weeks old and free of previous coatings, contaminants and loose or friable material. Dusty, powdering surfaces of concrete should be wire brushed. Any exposed, rusty metal reinforcing should be coated with a suitable rust converter and primer to prevent further corrosion and left to cure thoroughly.
Stone – Surfaces should be free from contamination or algae etc.
Priming
Watco Tack Coat adhesive primer must be applied before using Watco Concrex Vertical/Cold Set.
Mix the Tack Coat in accordance with the instructions and apply to the substrate using a brush. This stabilises and binds weak material and provides an excellent adhesive base for Watco Concrex Vertical/Cold Set.
Watco Tack Coat will cure at 0°C so can be used with Watco Concrex Vertical Cold Set. Watco Tack Coat can also be applied to damp surfaces.
Mixing
Each 10kg pack contains a resinous filler material in a plastic bag and 2 bottles of curing agent. If a smaller quantity is required, divide the contents of the bag accurately into two equal parts and mix 1 bottle with each half by trowel on a board.
Mixing should be carried out thoroughly. If mixing is correctly done the colour should be uniform, without streaks and of even texture.
Always mix for a further 5 minutes after the mix appears to be of uniform colour to ensure thorough dispersion of the curing agent.
Application
Watco Concrex Vertical/Cold Set should be applied while Watco Tack Coat is still wet or tacky. Trowel it firmly onto the surface, smoothing it out using a trowel or steel float. Occasionally wipe the trowel with a cloth dampened with white spirit to achieve a smooth result.
For awkward deep repairs the mortar can be pushed into place using a gloved hand and finished with a trowel.
Limitations
Concrex Vertical has excellent adhesion, chemical and weather resistance but due to the lightweight fillers used it will not have the same resistance to impact damage as Watco Concrex.
Concrex Vertical will however not shatter like concrete under impact. Concrex Vertical may not be impervious at thicknesses less than 5mm.
Concrex Vertical is not suitable for structural or bonding applications and is intended for surface ‘facing’ and ‘filling’ only.
