Rust-Oleum 5180 Epoxy Repair Mortar is an incredibly tough, 2 component epoxy resin mortar for repairing damaged, dished or dangerous concrete or stone floors. Rust-Oleum 5180 Epoxy Repair Mortar offers unequalled hardness and epoxy bonding power making it stronger than concrete. Its fast curing, virtually indestructible and provides a permanent repair to badly cracked and worn concrete and stone floors. It will fill holes of any shape or size, gaps, nosings, cracks etc and may be feather edged.
Recommended Uses
For Professional use
Concrete floors
Stone floors
Damaged concrete
Damaged bay edges
Broken steps
Filling holes and gaps
Surface Preparation
Concrete and stone surfaces should be dry and free from previous coatings, contaminants and loose material and at least four weeks old. Very smooth concrete or concrete with soft laitance should be etched with Rust-Oleum Mathys 108 Surfa Etch Solution. Grease or oil should be removed with Rust-Oleum Mathys ND14 Cleaner Degreaser and the area thoroughly washed off and allowed to become completely dry.
Directions for Use
The pack contains a granular resinous material and one or more bottles (depending on the packaging size) of curing agent. Mix the granular resinous material with the curing agent on a board. It is important that mixing should be carried out very thoroughly. The ratio of resin to curing agent is critical and the mixing of part packs is not recommended.
Application
Trowel vigorously over the prepared surface. Final levelling should be carried out with a steel float. To prevent ‘drag’ it is advisable to wipe the blade of the tool frequently with a rag moistened (but not saturated) with white spirit. The working life of the mixed product is 30-60mins depending on temperature. If the product is used past its working life, trowelling will become difficult and adhesion reduced.
Applying the product directly in a too high film thickness can reduce the performance of the cured material.
Application Conditions
Temperature of material, air and substrate between 10 and 35°C and relative humidity below 85%. The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point.

Question:
Can this product be used on driveways which is worn and cracked

Rust-Oleum 5180 Epoxy Repair Mortar should be used on concrete substrates only, not asphalt or tarmac. If the cracks are 3mm or less then we'd recommend Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Fine Crack Repair.

Question:
I have a garden tabletop made of a resin/ stone compound of some sort that suffered damage in a fall and was wondering if this product would be suitable for a repair job, and if I can lay tiles straight over it or whether it will take grout? The damaged area is approx 6cm x 3cm x 2cm deep.
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We have no experience of this product being used for this type of repair so all we could suggest it taking the smallest tin to try before carrying out the full project.

Question:
Hi, I'm looking to fix a church door. The hinge is fix into the stone, and it's wobbling. I was going to pull out hinge and clean. Fill full of epoxy and push hinge back in. Will this product be ok for this?
Does this react poorly if it comes in contact with aluminium
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Rust-Oleum 5180 Epoxy Repair Mortar is intended to repair damages in concrete/cementitious substrates, we are not sure where the aluminium contact would occur and we have no knowledge of any issues or reaction between the two but without knowing further details we could not confirm.

Question:
Hi. I have a number of screed patches on my garage floor which are around 2-3mm in depth and perhaps 20cm sq on average. Noting on the webpage that the epoxy repair mortar achieves full strength at 5mm, would the product be suitable for screed repair like this? The footfall in the garage is minimal. Thanks
Can the rust-oleum 5180 be used to repair cracked and broken steps including shaping around the curved face edge overhang?
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Rust-Oleum 5180 Epoxy Repair Mortar provides a permanent repair to badly cracked and worn concrete and will fill holes of any shape or size, gaps, nosings, cracks etc and may be feather edged. It is primarily used for horizontal surfaces and is often used to repair steps and would be a good solution. For large amounts of vertical or overhead repairs we normally would suggest using Rust-Oleum 5110 Verti-Patch, but where possible we would recommend using Rust-Oleum 5180 Epoxy Repair Mortar on steps.

Question: can you paint over this once dry? Thanks
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Yes with following comments;
Is mostly intended as a floor repair, so the assumption is that it will be overcoated with a specifically designed Rust-Oleum floor coating.
As this is an epoxy type, it is more “usual” to be overcoated with an epoxy type paint.
