Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz Restoration Render
Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz Restoration Render is a restoration render based on hydraulic trass lime, frost resistant dolomite sand and additives. Suitable for both internal and external application, in particular for use on very damp walls in historic buildings, old buildings, basement areas and cellars.
- Prevents salt efflorescence
- High pore volume
- High vapour permeability
- Frost resistant
Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz Restoration Render is a restoration render based on hydraulic trass lime, frost resistant dolomite sand and additives. Functions as an open pored hydrophobic render for the repair of salt damaged rendered surfaces above ground level. It is suitable for both internal and external application, in particular for use on very damp walls in historic buildings, old buildings, basement areas and cellars.

Preparation & Application
Existing salt laden render should be removed from the masonry to a height of approximately 800mm above the visible damage (this is very important). Rubble containing salt should be removed immediately. Brittle joint mortar should be removed to a depth of 20mm, worn out stones should be removed.
Masonry should be thoroughly cleaned (without water e.g. with wire brush) afterwards dust should be removed, with compressed air, etc.
In order to form a good bond between the nonabsorbent masonry and the Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz, a rough coat of Keim Porosan Trass Zementputz should be applied as a key coat. After the rough cost has been applied the masonry should still be clearly visible. Depressions, holes and uneven areas should be filled or equalised with Keim Porosan Trass Ausgleichsputz (ensure sufficient time for setting).
35kg of Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz (1 bag) requires mixing with approximately 6.5 litres of water and yields approximately 26 litres of wet mortar. Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz should be mixed with clear water to a thick consistency. Small quantities should be mixed with a mortar whisk (minimum mixing time 2 minutes). For larger quantities mixing pumps can be used. Free fall mixers are not suitable. Very long mixing periods should be avoided.
If the total thickness is more than 30mm, the first layer should consist of Keim Porosan Trass Ausgleichsputz. After the appropriate setting time has been observed, apply two layers of Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz, each of a minimum 10mm.
If Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz is used on its own, the total layer thickness should be between 20-40mm, the upper layer of render should be at least 10mm thick. If Keim Porosan Trass Ausgleichsputz is used as a base layer of render, then the upper layer of render should consist of Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz with a minimum thickness of 15mm.
The waiting time following application of the first layer depends upon its thickness, 1 day per mm. The first layer of render should be scraped off, during the setting time it should be well roughened (with a stiff bristle brush etc.).
Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz should be protected from sun and wind in order to prevent its water content from evaporating too rapidly. If necessary moisten from time to time.
The setting time depends on the ambient temperature and the consistency and absorbency of the substrate, usually 1 day per mm thickness of restoration render layer. After two weeks the render can be coated with Keim Mineral Paint systems.
Ambient and substrate temperature above 5°C and below 30°C. Do not apply in direct sunlight or onto sun-heated surfaces, nor if it is raining or if there is an immediate likelihood of rain.
1 bag (35kg) = approximately 26 litres of wet render, yields 1.3m² of render surface with a thickness of 20mm, equivalent to approximately 27kg/m² of dry mortar.
The stated consumption values are for guidance and depend on the nature of the substrate and the application method. Exact consumption values can only be determined by trials on the substrate.
Keim Porosan Trass Sanierputz can only function properly if coated with highly water vapour permeable Keim Mineral Paints systems.
