SCHÖNOX KH FIX is a ready for use, solvent-free synthetic resin dispersion primer for mineral substrates as moisture protection, primer coat and reduction of absorbency. Especially suitable as a primer for calcium sulphate (gypsum) based substrates with short drying time. For interior and exterior use.

SCHÖNOX KH FIX is suitable as a primer to protect against moisture from thin-bed mortars and levelling compounds as a primer for reducing absorbency. Can be applied to many different substrates, including concrete, cement and rapid cement screeds, calcium sulphate based screeds, gypsum plaster (according to EN 13279-1), cement plaster, lime-cement plaster (CS I - CS IV according to EN 998-1), gypsum board, dry screeds and wooden substrates.

Preparation & Application

Requirements of Substrate

1. Adequate dryness, strength, bearing strength, evenness and dimensional stability.
2. Free of residues which reduce adhesion, e.g. dust, dirt, oil, fat and loose particles.
3. Surface treatments or any "friable" areas of the subfloor must be mechanically removed and the subfloor repaired with SCHÖNOX levelling compounds as required.
4. Gypsum plaster (minimum layer 10 mm)surface must be not felted, neither smoothened. Otherwise it should be prepared mechanically.
5. Gypsum screeds should be grinded and vacuumed prior to further treatment.
6. Layers of water-soluble adhesives, e.g. sulphite-waste-adhesives, are to be mechanically removed. Remaining adhesive residues should be primed with SCHÖNOX GEA.
7. Magnesite-bound substrates must be primed with SCHÖNOX GEA.

Recommended Method of Working
SCHÖNOX KH FIX is a very low emission special primer and is stirred or shaken before use. Apply SCHÖNOX KH FIX undiluted and saturated with a fine pored roller or a roller with a short nap or similar evenly on the dry substrate. Avoid puddles. Carry out following steps under observance of the named drying times.

Immediately after use clean tools with water.

Storage & Disposal
Store SCHÖNOX KH FIX in cool, dry, frost-free conditions. Storage life of 1 year (in closed packaging). Opened packages should be closed immediately and used up as soon as possible.

Empty packaging completely and dispose of in accordance with regulations. For the disposal of product residues, wastewater and containers with adherent product residues please follow the local governmental regulations.
