SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS is a rapid-drying, ready-mixed special dispersion-based damp proof membrane suitable for use on unheated cementitious screeds with increased residual moisture up to 4,0 CM-% (96%-RH). 

Suitable for use on porous moisture-resistant substrates with increased residual moisture, and under SCHÖNOX floor levelling compounds with subsequent laying of textile and elastic coverings as well as parquet. Concrete cement and rapid cement screeds are substrates compatible with this membrane.

Preparation & Application

Requirements of Substrate

1. Adequate porosity, strength, load bearing capacity, dimensional stability and permanent dryness.
2. Free of residues which reduce adhesion, e.g. dust, dirt, oil, fat and loose particles.
3. Surface treatments or any "friable" areas of the subfloor must be mechanically removed and the subfloor repaired with SCHÖNOX levelling compounds as required.
4. Old, loose and weak levelling layers should be removed mechanically.
5. To ensure an ideal, dust-free surface, vacuum the substrate properly using an industrial vacuum cleaner.
6. The substrate surface must be visually dry to ensure a suitable adhesion of the damp proof membrane.
7. Substrates must be known to have an intact vapor retarder directly beneath in conformance to the relevant standards.
8. Do not use SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS where hydrostatic pressure conditions exist or where moisture vapor emissions exceed the recommended levels.

Recommended Method of Working
SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS is stirred or shaken before use. Apply SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS using a suitable tool such as a 18 mm nap roller avoiding puddles.

Apply evenly across the area avoiding moving too fast allowing SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS to saturate the surface. After a waiting time of approx. 15-30 minutes fully saturate a 18 mm nap roller and begin to back roll crosswise to the prior application to evenly distribute the film over the entire surface avoiding puddles.

After approx. 2 hours (at 15° C floor temperature) SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS is ready for applying a SCHÖNOX levelling screed without the need to prime.

The finished application must cover the substrate completely without any voids or pinholes to ensure a sufficient moisture vapor suppression. Exceeding the recommended coverage rate of approx. 40 m² per unit may jeopardize a sufficient moisture vapor suppression.

Cement screeds must have a moisture content of ≤ 4,0 CM% or 96 %-RH.

Concrete floors (also beneath cementitious bonded screeds) must have a moisture content ≤ 6,0 wt.-%. Moisture content is measured by the Darr method.

Clean tools in water immediately after use.

Mixing Ratio
Apply SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS undiluted.

Storage & Disposal
Store SCHÖNOX SDG PLUS in cool, dry, frost-free conditions. Storage life of 1 year (in closed packaging). Opened packages should be closed immediately and used up as soon as possible.

Empty packaging completely and dispose of in accordance with regulations. For the disposal of product residues, wastewater and containers with adherent product residues please follow the local governmental regulations. Do not empty into drains, waters or soil.

The requirements of the relevant valid standards, guidelines and data sheets apply. Wear suitable protective gloves and ensure a good ventilation during application and drying.

Avoid eating, drinking and smoking while working with the product. In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Keep out of the reach of children.
