Britannia Aquashield Standard is an excellent waterproofer for exterior pitched or flat roofs which gives a coverage rate of approximately 1kg per square meter. Can be used on a wide variety of building types, including factories, brick sheds, prisons, warehouses, as well as guttering.

  • Asbestos cladding.

Product Use in the Workplace

  • Library - If there's any building that can have its contents ruined by a leaking roof, it has to be a library. Even a small leak can cause a big problem; if water collects in one particular area of the roof, it has the potential to cause the ceiling to collapse, bringing a whole pool of water down all over the books.
  • Factory - Industrial roofs are usually hard-wearing, but like all roofing, needs to be well-maintained. In addition to not falling down, a good roof is one that keeps the rain and moisture out of the building. Once water can get in through the roof, it has the potential to cause erosion on metalwork, increasing the chance of damp and mould. By ensuring factory roofs are adequately waterproofed, safety can be upheld and damage can be avoided.

Preparation & Application

Ready for use on flat roofs, pitched roofs, weathered asphalt and bituminous surfaces, gutters, concrete, brickwork, GRP and fibreglass, felt and metal (galvanised and ferrous). Fibrous cement corrugated sheeting: two coats of Aquashield Primer must always be applied to this substrate. Clear all areas of moss, lichen and debris by brushing or power washing and remove surface water and any contamination such as Oil or Grease and allow to dry. Apply Britannia Fungicidal Wash to prevent further fungal/algal growth. Most roofing substrates to be treated will not normally require priming. To the dry and cleaned surface, apply a generous coat of Britannia Aquashield Waterproof Roof Coating by brush or squeegee, at the minimum specified spreading rate as stated above under the heading. Application Temperature should be between 5°C-25°C.

Please consult the Product Data Sheet for full application instructions.

Minimum Finished Fall: when using this product it is important that a minimum finished fall of 1:80 is achieved, as stated in BS 6229.2003 (Code of Practice for the application of Liquid Applied Waterproofing Systems to flat roofs with continuously supported coverings).
