Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ
Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ is a 200% elastic water-based flat-roof system with a built in fleece, which is waterproof, vapour permeable and resistant against ponding water in only 1 hour! It is a quick-drying water-resistant flat roof paint suitable for zero degree horizontal roofs and can be applied on almost any substrate.
Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ is a special coating that provides up to 200% elasticity which means that this coating is highly resistant to cracking and peeling. It resists extreme variations in temperature, atmospheric pollution, UV rays and is seamless and self-extinguishing.
Technical Data
Drying Times At 20°C/RH 50%
Theoretiecal Consumption
Per coat: 1 - 1,5 kg/m² (depending of the substrate). To be applied in 2 coats.
Practical Consumption
Practical coverage depends on many factors such as porosity and roughness of the substrate and material losses during application.

The substrate must be well clean and dry, free from flakes, gravel, dust and dirt. Fill up joints with Elastofill, bridge active cracks with "Dacfill bridging mesh" and apply one of the following priming coats:
Roofing or bituminous materials over 1 year old can be coated directly with Dacfill HZ depending on its condition. To ensure optimal adhesion it is recommended to fixate the substrate with Parafix. Zinc, galvanised steel, copper, lead and aluminium can be recoated with Dacfill HZ, if required, after degreasing and slight sanding.
Application Conditions
Dry weather: enough air ventilation (light breeze) or sunny conditions. Minimum Temperature: 5°C. Max. Relative humidity: 85%.

![]() | Question:
Can this product be over coated yearly or will it need the full system reapplied? or primed? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product has a 15 year maintenance free life expectancy, so this should not be required. But assuming the roof is clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical Data Sheet it can be reapplied directly.
![]() | Question:
Hi - a few years back i applied 3M Scotchkote Poly-Tech LS 657 (the 5 year system) to my roof. I bought it from yourselves. I've still got a couple of years before first maintanance, but I see it is now discontinued. Could I just apply the likes of Mathys Dacfill HZ over the top? Look forward to hearing from you. Cheers Phil |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
It is always difficult guaranteeing compatibility between two different manufacturers however, assuming all the usual preparation requirements (good condition, well adhered, clean and dry etc.) then we think Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ should be fine as a maintenance coat in this instance.
![]() | Question: I want to add a waterproof paint coating to a flat felt roof. The rood is reasonably new (1 year) but prone to ponding in some areas and already has one 'spongy' patch where water has clearly gone through the top mineral layer. I would like to add a waterproof paint layer to this to protect it further, can you recommend a product please from your range? Cheers |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ (used in conjunction with Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ Fleece) may be used in areas where long term ponding is expected so would be ideally suited to your application. However, the fact that the felt is already “suspect” (where water has already penetrated after only a year) if that is causing problems underneath the felt layer, the Dacfill HZ cannot resolve that.
![]() | Question: can Rust-oleum Mathys Dacfill hz be walked on when dry (say on a terrace). |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: No, but for products that can see our Balcony Paint Systems category.
![]() | Question: Can Rust-Oleum Mathys Dacfill HZ be applied to an epdm roof? |
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team: No, but 801 Seamless Roof Finish or GacoPro Roof Coating can.
