Tor Elastamat HD (SS6000225) is a random weave chopped strand glass fibre mat for high strength reinforcement of Tor liquid applied roof waterproofing systems. It is used as a full reinforcement on heavy duty flat roof applications and where ponding is evident, and as localised or partial reinforcement in other areas.
It helps to provide the ideal solution for areas subject to movement and damage, especially around vulnerable areas such as upstands, joints, etc.
The random nature of the weave allows the fibres to be easily incorporated within the roof coating and be moulded easily to rough and irregular surfaces. When encapsulated, the fibres help provide greater tensile strength and tear resistance to the roof coating system, whilst retaining its inherent flexibility.
Preparation & Application
Localised Reinforcement:
Side laps, hairline and associated cracks, bolt heads, joints, movement joints, stepped joints and dissimilar adjoining substrates: Apply 1 coat of the roof coating to a minimum width of 75mm either side of the item. Whilst wet insert Tor Elastamat HD and thoroughly “wet-in”.
Upstands, detailing, protrusions, etc: Apply 1 coat of the roof coating to a minimum width of 150mm. Whilst wet insert Tor Elastamat HD and thoroughly “wet-in”.
Full Reinforcement:
Apply 1 coat of the embedment coating at the prescribed coverage rate. Whilst wet insert Tor Elastamat HD and thoroughly “wet-in”. Overlap adjacent reinforcement areas already laid by at least 50mm ensuring sufficient extra embedment material is applied to these areas.
When embedding Tor Elastamat HD it may be necessary to tamp the mat. If so, use a short bristled brush or specialist roller ensuring that there are no tented areas. Immediately after embedding check for any upstanding glass fibre strands and lay smooth.
