Application And Thinning: Brush
Apply Green Paint Stripper thickly in an even layer with a brush (disposable brush, flat or round). Do not use synthetic brushes. Allow to stand for 10 to 15 minutes, and remove the old layer with a filling knife or paint scraper. Thick layers of some (two-component) products may need an additional treatment. After use, clean the surface with a cleaner (f.e. ND 14), high pressure (steam) cleaning, fresh water and allow to dry completely before applying a coating.

Can Rust-oleum Nr 1 green paint remover be used to remover alkyd paint smudges on the 'rubber' type gasket which fixes double glazing units in aluminium window frames. The paint is Rust-oleum colourcombi original. If not, any advice would be appreciated
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Unfortunately no, this is designed to remove paints such as Combicolor from metal, mineral or wood substrates, but this may also damage the coating to the aluminium windows.
We would recommend trying to peel the paint of the seals as the paint should not adhere to these well.

Question:
Hi can this be used to remove paint from the external brick walls of an old house? Bricks are fairly old and damaged. It’s the back wall of the house. Thanks
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
This product can be used on metal, wood, concrete and mineral substrates.
Due to the porous nature of most bricks a paint stripper is unlikely to remove all the paint.
We would recommend testing on a small area prior to full application.

Question:
Hi, had an outbuilding demolished and wish to remove paint from existing 100 year old building. I believe it to be a combination of emulsion or distemper on the bricks with a top coat of possibly vinyl emulsion or maybe gloss. Whatever it is it has a washable sheen look. I've managed to scrape a good percentage of it off and need something to completely remove whats left. Can you advise? Regards Paul
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Rust-Oleum Nr.1 Paint Stripper will be ideal for this application, it is intended to remove all types of oil and alkyd based paints, emulsion paints, varnish and most two-component materials from metal, mineral and wooden substrates without affecting them.

Question:
Hi We are wanting to remove paint/stain from our decking but we have cats, dogs as well as a variety of garden scrubs, is this safe to use around them? Many Thanks
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Thermoguard Thermostrip PRO would be a safer option however, no paint stripper is going to be particularly safe in this instance so you may be better trying to remove paint/stain by other methods such as high pressure water jetting and sanding.

Question:
Hello, Will this product work in powder coating? The material is a die cast zinc alloy, will the product damage the material?
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
We are not aware that this has been attempted before. It may well be worth attempting a trial as if successful this will be “easier” than any mechanical method to remove. Although our expectation is that use on a powder coating is unlikely to be successful, and at the very least we would expect multiple applications will be needed IF it works at all.

Question:
I have a couple of projects. Hopefully you can advise. I have two old cast iron bench ends which I’ve used various paint strippers including nitromors and another brand. I’m hoping that Rust-Oleum Nr 1 will trip the remains paint as the others hav required about 3 applications each. The second project is to remove old contact adhesive from the roof of my old yach where the headlining was glued. I don’t want a sticky mess by applying a contact adhesive solvent. Thank you
Answer from Rawlins’ Technical Team:
Rust-Oleum Nr.1 Green Paint Stripper can be used for both of these applications, the effectiveness will depend on the exact type of paint/glue which is present.
