Description

Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is a water-based, single-component paint, designed for easy spray application and yet gives the same protection as a complicated and more expensive polyurethane systems. Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde forms a thick anticorrosive membrane that offers excellent protection against water, salt spray and aggressive environments. Independent research as per the ISO 12944 standard demonstrates that Noxyde is the absolute BEST in corrosive protection - it even offers more than 20 years of protection in the highest corrosion class C5-M.

Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde combines flexibility, strong adhesion, water resistance, excellent edge coverage and anti-corrosive pigments while requiring minimal surface preparation. Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is a single pack water-based elastic coating ideal for use on metal cladding, metal roofs, bridges, silos, electrical isolation and more made from iron, steel, copper, aluminium, plastisol, zinc, lead, galvanised metal and PVDF (with a special primer).

30 years track record!

Noxyde has been tested by many institutes and the results are phenomenal with reports of “unsurpassed corrosion control”. Since 1972, it has been applied all over the world in many different climates, from very hot and dry to humid, rural-coastal, onshore and offshore... No impact upon the product's effectiveness was recorded, therefore it is the number one choice for metal protection. See Project References in the "Attachments" section above for details of Noxyde used on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and storage tanks in Rotterdam harbour.

Rust-Oleum Mathys Noxyde is a premium, state-of-the-art, easy-to-use product ideal for long-term corrosion protection of metal surfaces. Its unique formulation performs like no other coating on the market and offers unsurpassed rust protection with minimal labour. It is an excellent over coating and alternative to sandblasting, a more economical solution to epoxy/polyurethane coatings.

Total consumption for optimal rust preventive protection:800 g/m² = 350 μm dry film thickness

Practical Consumption

Practical coverage depends on many factors such as porosity and roughness of the substrate and material losses during application.

Preparation & Application

Surface Preparation

Remove grease, oil and all other surface contaminations by alkaline or high pressure (steam) cleaning (max. 200 Bars) in combination with appropriate detergents. The substrate has to be dust free and made rust free by means of sandblasting (Sa2, St2) or high pressure water jetting (min. 600 Bars). After jetting, the substrate has to be dust free. On new galvanised surfaces, new zinc, aluminium, stainless steel, apply first a coat of Pegalink. On ferrous substrates, apply Noxyde in red or grey as the first coat. In all instances apply contrasting Noxyde colours for subsequent layers.

Directions For Use

To ensure homogeneity, coating materials should be thoroughly stirred prior to use.

Application Conditions

Temperature between 8 and 55°C / Air humidity max. 80% R.H.

The substrate temperature must be at least 5°C above dew point.

Application & Thinning For Brush Applications

Undiluted as a rust preventive paint.

Diluted with approximately 25% volume water as an adhesion primer (consumption about 100 g/m²).

Application & Thinning For Roller Applications

Undiluted as a rust preventive paint. Diluted with approximately 25% volume water as an adhesion primer (consumption about 100 g/m²)

Application & Thinning For Airless Spray Applications

Undiluted. Nozzle: 13 - 17 / Pressure: min. 170 bars. Nozzle and pressure can vary depending on the type of substrate, equipment and the experience of the applicator.

Cleaning of Equipment & Spills

Water

Notes

When used for interior works, provide for adequate ventilation.During work stoppage, fully immerse brush or nozzle in water. Product is recoatable after 24 hours with itself, Coating PRT, high gloss alkyd enamels, high and satin gloss acrylic dispersion paints.
